[ Psalms 119:9 - 119:16 ] - hymn 240 Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. - Psalm 119:11 Charlie Riggs has been called "the man behind Billy Graham." For nearly 40 years, Riggs was the director of counseling and follow-up for Mr. Graham's evangelistic meetings. In his counselor training classes, Charlie taught thousands of people the basic principles of how to live for Christ and share their faith with others. At Charlie's 90th birthday celebration, many tributes mentioned his lifelong practice of memorizing Scripture. His goal was not merely to know the Bible, but to know Christ and live by His Word. Charlie followed Psalm 119:9-11, "How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word.... Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You." He likened the Scriptures to "plumb bobs" for his heart. Like the weight that holds a builder's plumb line straight and true, these divine principles never change, no matter what the circumstances. He sought to measure his own thoughts, feelings, and behavior by God's Word, not the other way around. Charlie Riggs' life was quiet and steady behind the scenes. [9] Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
[10] With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
[11] Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
[12] Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
[13] With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
[14] I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
[15] I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
[16] I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

성경은 우리의 삶을 변화시키고
우리를 죄로부터 등 돌리게 한다네
우리가 성경을 읽고 그 속에 있는
하나님의 원칙에 순종한다면

성경을 머리로 알고, 마음에 품고, 삶으로 보여주고, 이 세상에 퍼뜨려라.

[9] 청년이 무엇으로 그 행실을 깨끗케 하리이까 주의 말씀을 따라 삼갈 것이니이다
[10] 내가 전심으로 주를 찾았사오니 주의 계명에서 떠나지 말게 하소서
[11] 내가 주께 범죄치 아니하려 하여 주의 말씀을 내 마음에 두었나이다
[12] 찬송을 받으실 여호와여 주의 율례를 내게 가르치소서
[13] 주의 입의 모든 규례를 나의 입술로 선포하였으며
[14] 내가 모든 재물을 즐거워함 같이 주의 증거의 도를 즐거워하였나이다
[15] 내가 주의 법도를 묵상하며 주의 도에 주의하며
[16] 주의 율례를 즐거워하며 주의 말씀을 잊지 아니하리이다
