Curiosity Or Compassion?		호기심, 아니면 연민?
[ John 9:1 - 9:12 ] - hymn 414 [Jesus'] disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" - John 9:2 Why is it that when we hear about someone who is suffering, we are more interested in the details of what, why, when, and where than we are about how we can help? When the disciples passed the blind beggar(John 9:1), their curiosity about why he was suffering outweighed the prospect of reaching out to help him. "Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" they asked(v.2). Their pop-quiz for Jesus revealed that they were dreadfully out of step with their Master's heart. In fact, lurking beneath their question was a judgmental spirit-a desire to know whom to blame-as if that would make anyone feel better! Thankfully, Jesus modeled a compassionate response. Rather than speculation and condemnation, He marshaled His resources to help, which in this case meant complete healing. He made it clear that the man's blindness was intended to provide a moment for God to be magnified through Jesus' compassionate touch. Feeling curious about somebody's problem? Shift into Jesus' mode and move past the point of curiosity to his or her point of need. Reach out and touch someone's pain. Show the compassionate love of Jesus in action. - Joe Stowell		[ 요한복음 9:1 - 9:12 ] - 찬송가 414 장 제자들이 물어 가로되 랍비여 이 사람이 소경으로 난 것이 뉘 죄로 인함이오니이까 자기오니이까 그 부모오니이까 - 요한복음 9:2 누군가가 고통을 받고 있다는 소식을 들을 때, 어떻게 도울 수 있을까 하는 것보다 무엇이, 왜, 언제, 어디서 등 고통의 자세한 내용에 우리가 더 관심을 갖게 되는 이유가 무엇일까요? 제자들은 눈먼 거지의 앞을 지나가면서(요9:1), 그를 어떻게 도와줄까 생각하기보다는 그가 왜 이런 고통을 당하는지가 더 궁금했습니다. 그래서 "그가 소경으로 태어난 것이 그의 죄 때문입니까, 아니면 부모의 죄 때문입니까?"라고 질문하였습니다(2절). 제자들이 불쑥 던진 이 질문은 제자들이 예수님의 마음과는 너무나 동떨어져 있음을 드러내 보여주었습니다. 그들의 질문에는 누구 탓인지를 알아보고,정죄하려는 저의가 숨겨져 있었음이 분명합니다. 마치 그것이 누군가의 기분을 좋게 만들기라도 하듯이 말입니다. 감사하게도 예수님은 자비로운 반응의 모범을 보여주셨습니다. 추측하거나 비난하기 보다는 도와줄 방도를 제시하셨는데, 이번 경우에는 그를 완전히 치유하시는 것이었습니다. 예수님은 그 거지가 소경된 것은 예수님의 자비로우신 손길을 통하여 하나님께서 영광 받기 위해 계획된 것이라고 분명하게 말씀하셨습니다. 다른 사람의 문제가 궁금하십니까? 예수님의 입장이 되어 호기심을 넘어서 그 사람에게 필요한 것이 무엇인가에 관심을 가지십시오. 손을 내밀어 그 사람의 고통을 만져주십시오. 예수님의 자비와 사랑을 행동으로 나타내십시오.

And stay and strengthen those who fall. - Bryant

Do you want to be like Jesus? Replace curiosity with compassion.

John 9:1-12

[1] And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
[2] And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
[3] Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
[4] I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
[5] As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
[6] When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
[7] And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
[8] The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
[9] Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
[10] Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
[11] He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
[12] Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.

불행은 함정 가운데 도사리고 있네
보이지는 않지만, 모두의 발밑에 놓여있다네
넘어진 자들을 일으켜 세우시고 힘주시려 찾으시는
주님의 사랑 복 되도다

예수님 닮기를 원하는가? 호기심 대신 연민의 마음을 가져라.

요한복음 9:1-12

[1] 예수께서 길 가실 때에 날 때부터 소경 된 사람을 보신지라
[2] 제자들이 물어 가로되 랍비여 이 사람이 소경으로 난 것이 뉘 죄로 인함이오니이까 자기오니이까 그 부모오니이까
[3] 예수께서 대답하시되 이 사람이나 그 부모가 죄를 범한 것이 아니라 그에게서 하나님의 하시는 일을 나타내고자 하심이니라
[4] 때가 아직 낮이매 나를 보내신 이의 일을 우리가 하여야 하리라 밤이 오리니 그 때는 아무도 일할 수 없느니라
[5] 내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라
[6] 이 말씀을 하시고 땅에 침을 뱉아 진흙을 이겨 그의 눈에 바르시고
[7] 이르시되 실로암 못에 가서 씻으라 하시니 (실로암은 번역하면 보냄을 받았다는 뜻이라) 이에 가서 씻고 밝은 눈으로 왔더라
[8] 이웃 사람들과 및 전에 저가 걸인인 것을 보았던 사람들이 가로되 이는 앉아서 구걸하던 자가 아니냐
[9] 혹은 그 사람이라 하며 혹은 아니라 그와 비슷하다 하거늘 제 말은 내가 그로라 하니
[10] 저희가 묻되 그러면 네 눈이 어떻게 떠졌느냐
[11] 대답하되 예수라 하는 그 사람이 진흙을 이겨 내 눈에 바르고 나더러 실로암에 가서 씻으라 하기에 가서 씻었더니 보게 되었노라
[12] 저희가 가로되 그가 어디 있느냐 가로되 알지 못하노라 하니라
