[ James 4:13 - 4:17 ] - hymn 370 You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. - James 4:14 On a crisp October morning, our local newspaper featured a stunning photo of sun-drenched aspen trees whose leaves had turned autumn gold. The caption FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY. The irresistible invitation to take a drive through the mountains to savor the brilliant colors conveyed the urgency of doing it quickly. Autumn leaves that are golden today are often gone tomorrow. Our opportunities to obey God's promptings are also fleeting. James warned against an arrogance that assumes endless days will be available to carry out our good intentions. "You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.... Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin"(4:14,17). Is there an act of kindness or encouragement that God has urged you to do for someone in His name? How long has it been since that first prompting? With so many demands on our time, the urgent tasks demand our attention while the important things can be postponed. But a time will come when even the important can no longer be done. When we follow God's urging with our action now, today will be golden. - David C. McCasland		[ 야고보서 4:13 - 4:17 ] - 찬송가 370 장 내일 일을 너희가 알지 못하는도다 너희 생명이 무엇이뇨 너희는 잠간 보이다가 없어지는 안개니라 - 야고보서 4:14 어느 상쾌한 10월 아침, 가을의 황금빛으로 물든 사시나무가 햇살을 흠뻑 머금은 근사한 사진이 우리 지역 신문에 실렸습니다. 표제는‘한정된 기간 동안’이라고 되어 있었습니다. 화려한 색깔을 맛보며 산속을 드라이브 하라는 저항할 수 없는 유혹은 어서 서두르라는 긴박감을 전하고 있었습니다. 오늘 황금색인 가을 잎들은 내일이면 사라져버리곤 합니다. 우리가 하나님의 권유에 순종할 수 있는 기회도 빨리 사라져버립니다. 야고보는 선한 의도를 실천할 수 있는 날들이 무한정 있는 것처럼 생각하는 오만함을 경고했습니다. "내일 일을 너희가 알지 못하는도다 너희 생명이 무엇이뇨 너희는 잠간 보이다가 없어지는 안개니라 이러므로 사람이 선을 행할 줄 알고도 행치 아니하면 죄니라"(4:14,17). 하나님께서 당신에게 주님의 이름으로 다른 사람을 위해 하라고 강권하시는 선행이나 격려가 있습니까? 그런 권유를 처음 받고 나서 얼마나 지났습니까? 우리 삶 속에서 해야 할 일들이 너무 많아 긴급한 일에 먼저 신경을 쓰는 동안, 중요한 일들이 뒤로 미루어지기도 합니다. 그러나 나중에는 중요한 일까지도 더 이상 할 수 없는 때가 오게 될 것입니다. 우리가 지금 하나님의 강권을 행동으로 실천한다면 오늘 하루가 황금색으로 물들게 될 것입니다.

James 4:13-17

[13] Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
[14] Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
[15] For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
[16] But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
[17] Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

오늘 하나님이 당신을 강권하여
도움이 필요한 사람을 도우라 하시면
주저하지 마세요, 시간이 없으니
내일은 보장되어 있지 않아요

오늘 올바른 일을 하면 내일 후회가 없다.

야고보서 4:13-17

[15] 너희가 도리어 말하기를 주의 뜻이면 우리가 살기도 하고 이것을 하리라 할 것이거늘
[16] 이제 너희가 허탄한 자랑을 자랑하니 이러한 자랑은 다 악한 것이라
[17] 이러므로 사람이 선을 행할 줄 알고도 행치 아니하면 죄니라
