An Audience Of One		한 분의 청중
[ Matthew 6:1 - 6:6 ] - hymn 354 [Jesus] made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant. - Philippians 2:7 When I worked as a young journalist for Campus Life magazine, my assistant kept a plaque on her desk with this two-line poem: Only one life, 'twill soon be past / Only what's done for Christ will last. Reading that plaque brought me up short every time. Although I believed its truth, how could I put it into practice? How should my faith in the invisible world affect my day-to-day life in the visible world? According to Jesus, it's what God thinks of us that matters, not what others think. Jesus instructed us to pray in a closed room, where no one could see us, rather than in a public place where we might get credit for being spiritual(Matt.6:6). In other words, live for God and not others. Do we clamor for attention and achievement? Jesus invites us to let go of that competitive struggle, to trust that God's opinion of us is the only one that ultimately counts. How would our lives differ if we truly played to an audience of One? Certainly our sense of ego and rivalry would fade, because we would no longer need to worry about proving ourselves to others. We could concentrate instead on pleasing God by living in a way that would attract people to Jesus. - Philip Yancey		[ 마태복음 6:1 - 6:6 ] - 찬송가 354 장 오히려 자기를 비어 종의 형체를 가져 - 빌립보서 2:7 내가 젊어서 「캠퍼스 라이프」라는 잡지의 기자로 일하고 있을 때, 내 조수의 책상 위에는 다음과 같은 두 줄의 시구가 쓰인 명판이 놓여 있었습니다.‘한 번밖에 없는 인생 쉬 지나가고, 그리스도를 위해 일한 것만 오래 남네.’ 그 명판을 읽을 때마다 나는 멈춰서 생각하게 되었습니다. 그것이 진실이라고 믿지만 어떻게 실천에 옮길 수 있을까? 보이지 않는 세계에 속한 나의 믿음이 어떻게 이 현실의 하루하루 삶에 영향을 끼칠 수 있을까? 예수님에 의하면 다른 사람이 아니라 하나님이 우리를 어떻게 생각하시는가가 중요합니다. 예수님은 우리가 영적이라고 칭찬 들을 수 있는 공공장소가 아니라, 아무도 볼 수 없는 골방에 들어가 기도하라고 가르쳐 주셨습니다(마6:6). 다시 말하면 다른 사람이 아니라 하나님을 위하여 살라는 것입니다. 우리는 관심을 끌거나 무엇을 성취하기 위해 목청을 높이고 있지는 않습니까? 예수님은 경쟁적인 싸움은 그만하고 우리에 대한 하나님의 관점이 궁극적으로 중요한 유일한 것이라는 사실을 믿으라고 우리에게 권고하십니다. 한 분의 청중을 위해 진실하게 연주를 할 때 우리의 삶이 어떻게 달라질까요? 우리가 자신을 다른 이들에게 증명하려고 걱정할 필요가 더 이상 없을 것이기 때문에 자기중심적이고 경쟁적인 마음이 확실하게 사라질 것입니다. 대신에 사람들을 예수님께로 인도하는 삶을 살며 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는데 초점을 맞추게 될 것입니다.

Christ is seen most clearly when we remain in the background.

Matthew 6:1-6

[1] "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
[2] "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
[3] But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
[4] so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
[5] "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
[6] But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

모든 일에서 주님을 보고
내가 하는 모든 일이
주님을 위하여 하는 일이 되도록
나의 왕 나의 하나님, 나를 가르쳐 주소서

우리가 뒤에 머물러 있을 때
그리스도가 가장 확실히 드러난다.

[1] 사람에게 보이려고 그들 앞에서 너희 의를 행하지 않도록 주의하라 그리하지 아니하면 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 상을 받지 못하느니라
[2] 그러므로 구제할 때에 외식하는 자가 사람에게서 영광을 받으려고 회당과 거리에서 하는 것 같이 너희 앞에 나팔을 불지 말라 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 그들은 자기 상을 이미 받았느니라
[3] 너는 구제할 때에 오른손이 하는 것을 왼손이 모르게 하여
[4] 네 구제함을 은밀하게 하라 은밀한 중에 보시는 너의 아버지께서 갚으시리라
[5] 또 너희는 기도할 때에 외식하는 자와 같이 하지 말라 그들은 사람에게 보이려고 회당과 큰 거리 어귀에 서서 기도하기를 좋아하느니라 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 그들은 자기 상을 이미 받았느니라
[6] 너는 기도할 때에 네 골방에 들어가 문을 닫고 은밀한 중에 계신 네 아버지께 기도하라 은밀한 중에 보시는 네 아버지께서 갚으시리라
