A Child's Wonder		어린이의 호기심
[ Psalms 78:1 - 78:8 ] - hymn 298 That they may arise and declare [God's law] to their children, that they may set their hope in God. - Psalm 78:6-7 In 19th-century Scotland, a young mother observed her 3-year-old son's inquisitive nature. It seemed he was curious about everything that moved or made a noise. James Clerk Maxwell would carry his boyhood wonder with him into a remarkable career in science. He went on to do groundbreaking work in electricity and magnetism. Years later, Albert Einstein would say of Maxwell's work that it was "the most fruitful that physics has experienced since the time of Newton." From early childhood, religion touched all aspects of Maxwell's life. As a committed Christian, he prayed: "Teach us to study the works of Thy hands ... and strengthen our reason for Thy service." The boyhood cultivation of Maxwell's spiritual life and curiosity resulted in a lifetime of using science in service to the Creator. The community of faith has always had the responsibility to nurture the talent of the younger generation and to orient their lives to the Lord, "that they may arise and declare [God's law] to their children, that they may set their hope in God"(Ps.78:6-7). Our children are a gift from God
On loan from heaven above,
To train and nourish in the Lord,

We shape tomorrow's world by what we teach our children today.

Psalm 78:1-8

[1] A maskil of Asaph. O my people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth.
[2] I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old--
[3] what we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us.
[4] We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.
[5] He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our forefathers to teach their children,
[6] so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.
[7] Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.
[8] They would not be like their forefathers--a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.

우리 자녀들은 하늘로부터 맡겨진
하나님의 선물일세
주안에서 양육하고 훈련하며
하나님의 사랑을 그들에게 보여주세

오늘 자녀들에게 무엇을 가르치느냐에 따라
내일의 세계가 만들어진다.

시편 78:1-8

[1] 내 백성이여, 내 율법을 들으며 내 입의 말에 귀를 기울일지어다
[2] 내가 입을 열어 비유로 말하며 예로부터 감추어졌던 것을 드러내려 하니
[3] 이는 우리가 들어서 아는 바요 우리의 조상들이 우리에게 전한 바라
[4] 우리가 이를 그들의 자손에게 숨기지 아니하고 여호와의 영예와 그의 능력과 그가 행하신 기이한 사적을 후대에 전하리로다
[5] 여호와께서 증거를 야곱에게 세우시며 법도를 이스라엘에게 정하시고 우리 조상들에게 명령하사 그들의 자손에게 알리라 하셨으니
[6] 이는 그들로 후대 곧 태어날 자손에게 이를 알게 하고 그들은 일어나 그들의 자손에게 일러서
[7] 그들로 그들의 소망을 하나님께 두며 하나님께서 행하신 일을 잊지 아니하고 오직 그의 계명을 지켜서
[8] 그들의 조상들 곧 완고하고 패역하여 그들의 마음이 정직하지 못하며 그 심령이 하나님께 충성하지 아니하는 세대와 같이 되지 아니하게 하려 하심이로다
