[ Proverbs 31:10 - 31:12 ] - hymn 304 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. - Proverbs 31:28 On Mother's Day, 2007, British national television ran an intriguing story. Peggy Bush's daughter had died, so Peggy absorbed the responsibility of caring for her daughter's three children while her son-in-law worked. Then, tragically, her son-in-law also died. With both parents gone, Peggy took her three grandchildren in and raised them as if they were her own. In a world where wrong is glamorized and the lurid is presented as appealing, we seldom hear of the good things that happen. Yet this woman's love and sacrifice were recognized, acknowledged, and honored as the nation took note of her as Britain's "Best Mum" for 2007. Today is Mother's Day in the US. Most of the efforts, sacrifices, and expressions of love our mothers have given us will not be the lead story on the news. Their recognition will be more personal. But what matters is not the scope of the appreciation but its genuineness. On this special day, may we thank God for the mothers who have molded our hearts. As we honor them, we fulfill the truth of Proverbs 31:28, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." - Bill Crowder		[ 잠언 31:10 - 31:12 ] - 찬송가 304 장 그 자식들은 일어나 사례하며 그 남편은 칭찬하기를 - 잠언 31:28 2007년 어머니날에 영국의 국영 TV 방송에서는 상당히 흥미있는 이야기를 방영했습니다. 페기 부시 여사의 딸이 죽어서 세 손자 손녀를 남겼는데 부시여사는 사위가 직장 일을 하는 동안 이들을 돌보기로 했습니다. 그 후에 불행하게도 사위마저 갑작스럽게 세상을 떠났습니다. 부시 여사는 졸지에 부모를 잃은 세 손자 손녀들을 받아들여 마치 자신의 자녀처럼 키웠습니다. 잘못된 일이 그럴듯하게 알려지고 끔찍한 사건을 흥미롭게 다루는 요즘 세상에 우리는 선행에 대한 소식을 자주 듣지 못합니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 부시여사의 사랑과 희생이 알려지고 인정을 받아 2007년 영국 "최고의 어머니"라는 영예로운 호칭을 받았습니다. 미국에서는 오늘을 어머니날로 기리고 있습니다. 그렇지만 어머니들이 우리들에게 베풀어 주신 거의 모든 노력과 희생, 그리고 사랑의 표현은 오늘의 톱뉴스가 되지 않을 것입니다. 어머니들의 노고는 좀 더 개인적인 차원에서 인정될 것입니다. 그러나 정말 중요한 것은 무엇을 얼마나 크게 감사하느냐가 아니라 감사의 순수성에 있습니다. 이 특별한 날에 우리의 심성을 만들어 준 어머니들을 주신 데 대하여 하나님께 감사드려야겠습니다. 어머니들에게 경의를 표하는 것은 "그 자식들은 일어나 사례하며 그 남편은 칭찬"한다는 잠언 31장 28절의 진리를 우리가 실현하는 것입니다.

A Christian mother's love contains
A gospel all its own,
Because the King of love has found

Nothing touches a child like a mother's love.

Prov. 31:10-12, 28-31

[10] A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
[11] Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
[12] She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

[28] Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
[29] "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
[30] Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
[31] Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

그리스도인 어머니의 사랑 속에는
복음 그 자체가 들어있네
왜냐하면 사랑의 왕이신 주님께서
어머니의 마음속에 자리 잡고 있기 때문이네

어머니의 사랑만큼 아이의 마음에 감동을 주는 것은 없다.

잠언 31:10-12, 28-31

[10] 누가 현숙한 여인을 찾아 얻겠느냐 그의 값은 진주보다 더 하니라
[11] 그런 자의 남편의 마음은 그를 믿나니 산업이 핍절하지 아니하겠으며
[12] 그런 자는 살아 있는 동안에 그의 남편에게 선을 행하고 악을 행하지 아니하느니라

[28] 그의 자식들은 일어나 감사하며 그의 남편은 칭찬하기를
[29] 덕행 있는 여자가 많으나 그대는 모든 여자보다 뛰어나다 하느니라
[30] 고운 것도 거짓되고 아름다운 것도 헛되나 오직 여호와를 경외하는 여자는 칭찬을 받을 것이라
[31] 그 손의 열매가 그에게로 돌아 갈 것이요 그 행한 일로 말미암아 성문에서 칭찬을 받으리라
