[ Isaiah 40:25 - 41:1 ] - hymn 394 Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. - Isaiah 40:31 Americans spend more than $20 billion annually on various anti-aging products that claim to cure baldness, remove wrinkles, build muscle, and renew the powers of youth. Can those products deliver what they promise? Dr. Thomas Perls of Boston University School of Medicine says there is "absolutely no scientific proof that any commercially available product will stop or reverse aging." But there is a promise of spiritual vitality that defies the ravages of time. "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint"(Isa.40:30-31). Isaiah used the eagle as a symbol of freedom and endurance, held aloft by a source of power outside itself. As we put our hope and trust in the Lord, we are carried along by His strength and not our own. The psalmist said it is the Lord who nourishes us so that our "youth is renewed like the eagle's"(Ps.103:5). Are we taking advantage of God's anti-aging power? It's promised to all who put their trust in Him for strength of heart, vigor of spirit, and energy of soul. - David C. "소년이라도 피곤하며 곤비하며 장정이라도 넘어지며 자빠지되 오직 여호와를 앙망하는 자는 새 힘을 얻으리니 독수리의 날개치며 올라감 같을 것이요 달음박질하여도 곤비치 아니하겠고 걸어가도 피곤치 아니하리로다"(사40:30-31). 이사야 선지자는 독수리를 외적인 힘에 의해 높이 세워진, 자유와 지구력의 상징으로 사용했습니다. 우리가 주님께 우리의 소망을 두고 의지하면 우리는 자신의 힘이 아닌 주님의 능력에 의해 이끌리게 됩니다. 시편 기자는 우리의 주님이 바로 우리를 보호하사 "청춘으로 독수리같이 새롭게 하시는"(시103:5) 분이라고 말합니다. 여러분은 하나님의 노화방지 능력을 활용하고 계십니까? 이것은 영혼의 힘, 마음의 용기, 영적인 활력을 얻기 위해 주님을 믿는 모든 사람들에게 주신 약속입니다.

Yes, outwardly we perish every day;
But inner strength of heart can be renewed

Growing old is a blessing when you're growing closer to God.

Isaiah 40:25-41:1

[25] "To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One.
[26] Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
[27] Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"?
[28] Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
[29] He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
[30] Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
[31] but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
[1] "Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the place of judgment.

그렇다네, 우리의 겉 사람은 매일 죽어가며
세월의 자취를 지울 수 없다네
그러나 주님을 믿음으로 우리 앞길 비취어
속 사람은 마음의 힘을 얻어 새롭게 된다네

하나님께 더욱 가까워져 간다면
나이를 먹는 것도 축복이다.

이사야 40:25-41:1

[25] 거룩하신 이가 이르시되 그런즉 너희가 나를 누구에게 비기며 나를 그와 동등하게 하겠느냐 하시느니라
[26] 너희는 눈을 높이 들어 누가 이 모든 것을 창조하였나 보라 주께서는 수효대로 만상을 이끌어 내시고 그들의 모든 이름을 부르시나니 그의 권세가 크고 그의 능력이 강하므로 하나도 빠짐이 없느니라
[27] 야곱아 어찌하여 네가 말하며 이스라엘아 네가 이르기를 내 길은 여호와께 숨겨졌으며 내 송사는 내 하나님에게서 벗어난다 하느냐
[28] 너는 알지 못하였느냐 듣지 못하였느냐 영원하신 하나님 여호와, 땅 끝까지 창조하신 이는 피곤하지 않으시며 곤비하지 않으시며 명철이 한이 없으시며
[29] 피곤한 자에게는 능력을 주시며 무능한 자에게는 힘을 더하시나니
[30] 소년이라도 피곤하며 곤비하며 장정이라도 넘어지며 쓰러지되
[31] 오직 여호와를 앙망하는 자는 새 힘을 얻으리니 독수리가 날개 치며 올라감 같을 것이요 달음박질하여도 곤비하지 아니하겠고 걸어가도 피곤하지 아니하리로다
[41:1] 섬들아 내 앞에 잠잠하라 민족들아 힘을 새롭게 하라 가까이 나아오라 그리고 말하라 우리가 서로 재판 자리에 가까이 나아가자
