The Ascension		승천
[ Acts 1:1 - 1:11 ] - hymn 159 I go to prepare a place for you... I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. - John 14:2-3 The repeated appearances of Jesus after His death and resurrection brought His followers so much joy that they must have wanted the visits to continue indefinitely. But on the 40th day after His resurrection, having given His disciples final instructions, Jesus slowly ascended and a cloud hid Him from view. Jesus could have vanished instantly, as He had done previously(Luke 24:31). But He chose to ascend visibly to impress on His followers that this was the end of His visits. His bodily presence would soon be replaced by "another Helper," the Holy Spirit promised in John 14:16. Jesus' ascension marked the dawn of a new era. In His glorified human body, the Lord Jesus ascended, entered heaven, sat down at the right hand of God, sent the Holy Spirit(John14:16-18; Acts2:33), and now intercedes for us(Rom.8:34; Heb.7:25). He permeates the whole universe with His spiritual presence and power(Col.1:15-23; Eph.4:10). An ancient writing says that Jesus ascended bodily into heaven "our entrance to secure, and our abode to prepare." That's true. But it's also true that as God, He is always spiritually present with us and will be "to the end of the age"(Matt.28:20). What a wonderful Savior we have! - Herbert Vander Lugt		[ 사도행전 1:1 - 1:11 ] - 찬송가 159 장 내가 너희를 위하여 처소를 예비하러 가노니...내가 다시 와서 너희를 내게로 영접하여 나 있는 곳에 너희도 있게 하리라 - 요한복음 14:2-3 예수님이 돌아가신 후 부활하셔서 자주 모습을 보이시자, 그의 제자들은 너무나 기뻐서 예수님이 영원토록 계속 찾아주시기를 원했을 것입니다. 하지만, 부활하신 후 40일 만에 제자들에게 마지막 가르침을 주시고 예수님은 승천하셔서 천천히 구름 속으로 그 모습을 감추셨습니다. 예수님은 전에 그러셨던 것처럼(눅24:31) 갑자기 사라지실 수도 있었습니다. 하지만 이것이 자신의 마지막 방문이란 것을 확실히 알리기 위해 예수님은 제자들이 보는 가운데 승천하셨던 것입니다. 그의 육적인 임재는 요한복음 14장 16절에 약속된 "다른 도우시는 자" 즉, 성령님으로 곧 대치된 것이었습니다. 예수님의 승천은 새로운 시대의 여명을 의미하였습니다. 영화롭게 된 인간의 몸으로 주 예수님은 승천하셨고, 천국에 들어가셨고, 하나님 우편에 앉으셨고, 성령을 보내셨고(요14:16-18; 행2:33), 그리고 이제는 우리를 위하여 간구하십니다(롬8:34; 히7:25). 예수님은 온 세상을 자신의 영적 임재와 권능으로 충만케 하십니다(골1:15-23; 엡4:10). 한 고대 문서에는 예수님이 "우리가 들어갈 통로를 마련하고, 우리가 머무를 곳을 준비하시려" 육체적으로 승천하셨다고 써져 있습니다. 맞습니다. 하지만, 하나님으로서 그분은 우리와 영적으로 항상 함께 계시고, "세상 끝날까지"(마28:20) 함께 하실 것이라는 것도 틀림없습니다. 우리가 얼마나 귀한 구원자를 가졌는지요!

Jesus went away so the Holy Spirit could come to stay.

Acts 1:1-11

[1] In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach
[2] until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.
[3] After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
[4] On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.
[5] For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
[6] So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
[7] He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.
[8] But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
[9] After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
[10] They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.
[11] "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

이 땅으로부터 하늘나라의 왕좌로
주님의 몸은 승천하셨고
이제 자신의 백성들을 위해
그 곳에서 간구하시네

예수님은 성령님이 오셔서 머물게 하기 위해 승천하셨다.

사도행전 1:1-11

[1] 데오빌로여 내가 먼저 쓴 글에는 무릇 예수께서 행하시며 가르치시기를 시작하심부터
[2] 그가 택하신 사도들에게 성령으로 명하시고 승천하신 날까지의 일을 기록하였노라
[3] 그가 고난 받으신 후에 또한 그들에게 확실한 많은 증거로 친히 살아 계심을 나타내사 사십 일 동안 그들에게 보이시며 하나님 나라의 일을 말씀하시니라
[4] 사도와 함께 모이사 그들에게 분부하여 이르시되 예루살렘을 떠나지 말고 내게서 들은 바 아버지께서 약속하신 것을 기다리라
[5] 요한은 물로 세례를 베풀었으나 너희는 몇 날이 못되어 성령으로 세례를 받으리라 하셨느니라
[6] 그들이 모였을 때에 예수께 여쭈어 이르되 주께서 이스라엘 나라를 회복하심이 이 때니이까 하니
[7] 이르시되 때와 시기는 아버지께서 자기의 권한에 두셨으니 너희가 알 바 아니요
[8] 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라
[9] 이 말씀을 마치시고 그들이 보는데 올려져 가시니 구름이 그를 가리어 보이지 않게 하더라
[10] 올라가실 때에 제자들이 자세히 하늘을 쳐다보고 있는데 흰 옷 입은 두 사람이 그들 곁에 서서
[11] 이르되 갈릴리 사람들아 어찌하여 서서 하늘을 쳐다보느냐 너희 가운데서 하늘로 올려지신 이 예수는 하늘로 가심을 본 그대로 오시리라 하였느니라
