[ 1 Samuel 25:32 - 25:39 ] - hymn 499 Blessed be the Lord, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach. - 1 Samuel 25:39 Playwright and US Congresswoman Clare Boothe Luce(1903-1987) once said, "No good deed goes unpunished." Sadly, it sometimes seems as if this aphorism is true. David, soon to be king of Israel, had an experience that corroborates this idea. While hiding from Saul, he and his men watched over the property of a rich landowner named Nabal. But later, when David asked a favor of Nabal, he was met with scorn. "Surely in vain I have protected all that this fellow has," said David. "He has repaid me evil for good"(1 Sam.25:21). Before David could carry out revenge, Nabal's wife intervened and kept David from acting rashly. Soon, God struck Nabal dead(v.38). Then David praised God for keeping him from evil and for returning "the wickedness of Nabal on his own head"(v.39). Perhaps you've had an experience when kindness was repaid with ingratitude, a generous gift was treated as an entitlement, kind actions were interpreted as an attempt to control, or well-intended advice was received with scorn. David's story reminds us that even when it seems as if we're being repaid with evil for doing good, we don't have to take matters into our own hands; we can trust God with the outcome. - Julie Ackerman Link		[ 사무엘상 25:32 - 25:39 ] - 찬송가 499 장 나의 욕을 신설하사...여호와를 찬송할지로다 - 사무엘상 25:39 미국의 극작가이자 하원의원이었던 클레어 부드 루스(1903-1987)는 "그 어떤 선행도 면책될 수 없다"고 말한 적이 있었습니다. 안타깝게도 종종 이 경구가 진리처럼 보입니다. 곧 이스라엘의 왕이 될 다윗은 이를 확인하는 경험을 했습니다. 사울을 피해 은신하던 다윗과 신복들은 나발이라고 하는 한 부자 지주의 들판을 지켜주었습니다. 후에 다윗이 나발의 도움을 청했을 때 쌀쌀맞게 거절을 당했습니다. "내가 이 자의 소유물을 광야에서 지켜 그 모든 것을 하나도 손실이 없게 한 것이 진실로 허사라 그가 악으로 나의 선을 갚는도다"라고 다윗이 말했습니다(삼상25:21). 다윗이 복수를 하려 하자 나발의 아내가 개입하여 다윗이 경솔하게 행동하는 것을 막았습니다. 그리고 머지않아 하나님께서 나발을 쳐서 죽게 했습니다(38절). 그러자 다윗은 하나님께서 자기가 악한 일을 하지 않도록 하시고 "나발의 악행을 그 머리에 돌리셨음"에 하나님을 찬송했습니다(39절). 아마 당신도 친절이 배은망덕으로 돌아오고, 관대한 선물이 당연한 것처럼 취급당하며, 친절한 행동이 남을 조종하려는 것으로 받아들여지거나, 좋은 의도로 조언을 했음에도 쌀쌀맞게 거절당해 본 경험이 있을 것입니다. 다윗의 이야기는 비록 우리가 행한 선한 일을 악으로 되돌려 받는 것처럼 보인다 할지라도, 그것을 우리 스스로의 힘으로 해결할 필요가 없다는 것을 상기시켜 줍니다. 우리는 그 결과에 대해 하나님을 믿고 그분께 맡길 수 있습니다.

1 Samuel 25:32-39

[32] David said to Abigail, "Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who has sent you today to meet me.
[33] May you be blessed for your good judgment and for keeping me from bloodshed this day and from avenging myself with my own hands.
[34] Otherwise, as surely as the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, who has kept me from harming you, if you had not come quickly to meet me, not one male belonging to Nabal would have been left alive by daybreak."
[35] Then David accepted from her hand what she had brought him and said, "Go home in peace. I have heard your words and granted your request."
[36] When Abigail went to Nabal, he was in the house holding a banquet like that of a king. He was in high spirits and very drunk. So she told him nothing until daybreak.
[37] Then in the morning, when Nabal was sober, his wife told him all these things, and his heart failed him and he became like a stone.
[38] About ten days later, the LORD struck Nabal and he died.
[39] When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, "Praise be to the LORD, who has upheld my cause against Nabal for treating me with contempt. He has kept his servant from doing wrong and has brought Nabal's wrongdoing down on his own head." Then David sent word to Abigail, asking her to become his wife.

이 세상은 내 하나님 아버지의 것
악이 종종 강하게 보여도
하나님이 이 세상을 다스리시는 분이심을
오, 주여 내가 결코 잊지 않게 하소서

언젠가는 하나님께서 모든 악을 바로잡으신다.

사무엘상 25:32-39

[32] 다윗이 아비가일에게 이르되 오늘 너를 보내어 나를 영접하게 하신 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 찬송할지로다
[33] 또 네 지혜를 칭찬할지며 또 네게 복이 있을지로다 오늘 내가 피를 흘릴 것과 친히 복수하는 것을 네가 막았느니라
[34] 나를 막아 너를 해하지 않게 하신 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 네가 급히 와서 나를 영접하지 아니하였다면 밝은 아침에는 과연 나발에게 한 남자도 남겨 두지 아니하였으리라 하니라
[35] 다윗이 그가 가져온 것을 그의 손에서 받고 그에게 이르되 네 집으로 평안히 올라가라 내가 네 말을 듣고 네 청을 허락하노라
[36] 아비가일이 나발에게로 돌아오니 그가 왕의 잔치와 같은 잔치를 그의 집에 배설하고 크게 취하여 마음이 기뻐하므로 아비가일이 밝은 아침까지는 아무 말도 하지 아니하다가
[37] 아침에 나발이 포도주에서 깬 후에 그의 아내가 그에게 이 일을 말하매 그가 낙담하여 몸이 돌과 같이 되었더니
[38] 한 열흘 후에 여호와께서 나발을 치시매 그가 죽으니라
[39] 나발이 죽었다 함을 다윗이 듣고 이르되 나발에게 당한 나의 모욕을 갚아 주사 종으로 악한 일을 하지 않게 하신 여호와를 찬송할지로다 여호와께서 나발의 악행을 그의 머리에 돌리셨도다 하니라 다윗이 아비가일을 자기 아내로 삼으려고 사람을 보내어 그에게 말하게 하매
