Who Holds The Cup?		누가 잔을 드는가?
[ Matthew 26:36 - 26:46 ] - hymn 484 Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me? - John 18:11 Are you being called to taste some bitter cup of pain or loss? Are you tempted to push it away? You may be wondering, Is God in this situation? If so, recall the dark and distressing experience of Jesus and His example on the night of His betrayal. We must never forget that Jesus was the God-Man, with both divine and human natures. He therefore recoiled from the prospect of agonizing crucifixion and the ordeal of having the world's sin heaped on His sinless soul. And worst of all, He shuddered at the thought of being abandoned by His Father. So He pleaded, "If it is possible, let this cup pass from Me"(Matt.26:39). Yet after that He said in trustful submission, "Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?"(John18:11). He knew that the hand, which would for our redemption hold the cup to His lips, was not the hand of Judas or Caiaphas or Pilate. It was the hand of His loving Father intent on redeeming our lost human race. Baffled by the mystery of such love, we take our stand on Calvary and believe that any cup we drink is held to our lips by the Father of fathomless love and wisdom. Our prayer is that of trustful submission because we believe that even life's most bitter cup is held in the Father's hand. - Vernon C. Grounds		[ 마태복음 26:36 - 26:46 ] - 찬송가 484 장 아버지께서 주신 잔을 내가 마시지 아니하겠느냐 - 요한복음 18:11 고통과 상실의 쓴잔을 마시라는 요구를 받았습니까? 그것을 거부하고자 하는 마음이 당신을 유혹합니까? '하나님께서 이러한 상황을 만드셨나?'하고 의아해 할 수도 있습니다. 그렇다면, 배신당하신 그날 밤 예수님이 겪으셨던 암담하고 괴로웠던 사건들과 예수님이 보여주신 본을 생각해 보십시오. 우리는 예수님이 인성과 신성을 함께 가지고 계신 분이라는 것을 결코 잊어서는 안 됩니다. 그렇기 때문에 예수님께서도 십자가에 달려 온 세상의 죄를 죄 없는 자신의 영혼이 짊어져야 하는 사건 앞에서 고뇌하며 주저하지 않을 수 없었습니다. 무엇보다도 자신의 아버지로부터 버림받아야 한다는 생각에 가장 힘들었을 것입니다. 그래서 주님은 간청하셨습니다. "만일 할 만하시거든 이 잔을 내게서 지나가게 하옵소서"(마26:39). 그러나 곧 순종하는 마음으로 다시 말씀하였습니다. "아버지께서 주신 잔을 내가 마시지 아니하겠느냐"(요18:11). 주님은 우리의 구속을 위해서 예수님의 입술에 닿은 잔을 잡은 손이 유다의 것도, 대제새장 가야바의 것도, 빌라도의 손도 아닌 것을 알았습니다. 그 손은 길 잃은 인간을 구속하고자 하시는 주님의 사랑하는 아버지 하나님의 손이었습니다. 그러한 사랑의 신비함이 당혹스럽기도 하지만, 우리는 갈보리에 서서 우리의 입술에 닿는 모든 잔을 한량없는 사랑과 지혜의 하나님께서 잡고 계시다는 것을 믿습니다. 인생의 가장 쓴 잔도 하나님께서 잡고 계신 것임을 믿기에, 진정한 순종의 기도를 드릴 수 있습니다.

We learn the lesson of trust in the school of trial.

Matthew 26:36-46

[36] Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."
[37] He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled.
[38] Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me."
[39] Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
[40] Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter.
[41] "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
[42] He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."
[43] When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy.
[44] So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
[45] Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
[46] Rise, let us go! Here comes my betrayer!"

우리의 잔에 죽음과 저주가 가득 담겼었네
오, 그리스도여, 그 잔을 주께서 잡으셨네
그러나 주께서 그 어둠의 잔을 남김없이 마셨네
이제 거기에는 나를 위한 축복이 있네

시련이라는 학교를 통해 우리는 믿음을 배운다.

마태복음 26:36-46

[36] 이에 예수께서 제자들과 함께 겟세마네라 하는 곳에 이르러 제자들에게 이르시되 내가 저기 가서 기도할 동안에 너희는 여기 앉아 있으라 하시고
[37] 베드로와 세베대의 두 아들을 데리고 가실새 고민하고 슬퍼하사
[38] 이에 말씀하시되 내 마음이 매우 고민하여 죽게 되었으니 너희는 여기 머물러 나와 함께 깨어 있으라 하시고
[39] 조금 나아가사 얼굴을 땅에 대시고 엎드려 기도하여 이르시되 내 아버지여 만일 할 만하시거든 이 잔을 내게서 지나가게 하옵소서 그러나 나의 원대로 마시옵고 아버지의 원대로 하옵소서 하시고
[40] 제자들에게 오사 그 자는 것을 보시고 베드로에게 말씀하시되 너희가 나와 함께 한 시간도 이렇게 깨어 있을 수 없더냐
[41] 시험에 들지 않게 깨어 기도하라 마음에는 원이로되 육신이 약하도다 하시고
[42] 다시 두 번째 나아가 기도하여 이르시되 내 아버지여 만일 내가 마시지 않고는 이 잔이 내게서 지나갈 수 없거든 아버지의 원대로 되기를 원하나이다 하시고
[43] 다시 오사 보신즉 그들이 자니 이는 그들의 눈이 피곤함일러라
[44] 또 그들을 두시고 나아가 세 번째 같은 말씀으로 기도하신 후
[45] 이에 제자들에게 오사 이르시되 이제는 자고 쉬라 보라 때가 가까이 왔으니 인자가 죄인의 손에 팔리느니라
[46] 일어나라 함께 가자 보라 나를 파는 자가 가까이 왔느니라
