Identity Theft		신분을 빼앗는 죄
[ Matthew 5:21 - 5:26 ] - hymn 518 Whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. - Matthew 5:22 Several years ago while having lunch with a friend, a white man called me "boy." Shock gave way to anger and hurt. My friend even shed tears. Why? The term boy was an insulting label used of black men in the US during slavery, an attempt to steal their identity by demoting them to less than men. As that ugly word recklessly barreled its way through my soul, I wanted to respond with an equally unkind name. But some ancient words from our Master about murder and anger changed my mind. As Jesus was teaching His followers, He quoted the sixth commandment-"You shall not murder"-and the penalty for breaking it(Matt.5:21). Then He gave a fuller interpretation. Taking someone's life was not limited to physical murder; you could show contempt for someone through name-calling and be just as guilty. In Jewish culture, to call someone "Raca" or "Fool"(v.22) was the equivalent of calling someone empty-headed or an idiot. It was used to demean and demote another. What makes name-calling so damaging is that it insults the God who created that person in His image! Jesus taught His followers that the weight of our neighbor's glory is a burden we carry daily. If we follow His teaching, we won't be guilty of identity theft. - Marvin Williams		[ 마태복음 5:21 - 5:26 ] - 찬송가 518 장 형제에게 노하는 자마다 심판을 받게 되고 - 마태복음 5:22 몇년 전 한 친구와 함께 점심식사를 하고 있을 때, 한 백인이 나를 "보이"라고 불렀습니다. 충격으로 인해 화가 났고 마음도 상했습니다. 내 친구는 눈물까지 글썽 이었습니다. 왜냐하면, '보이'는 미국 노예제도하에서 흑인을 폄하해서 부르는 말이었고, 흑인들을 사람 이하로 격하시킴으로써 그들의 정체성을 빼앗으려는 시도로 그렇게 불렀기 때문이었습니다. 그 흉한 단어가 내 영혼을 분별없이 파고들었을 때, 나도 똑같이 불친절한 단어로 대응하고 싶었습니다. 그렇지만 살인과 분노에 관한 주님의 말씀이 나의 마음을 바꾸었습니다. 예수님이 그의 제자들을 가르치실 때, "살인하지 말라"라는 여섯 번째 계명과 그것을 어겼을 때의 형벌을 인용하셨습니다(마5:21). 그러고 나서 좀더 깊이 있는 해석을 해주셨습니다. 육체적인 살인만이 다른 사람의 목숨을 빼앗는 것이 아닙니다. 욕설을 하면서 다른 사람을 경멸하는 것도 같은 죄목에 해당됩니다. 유대 문화에서 다른 사람을 "라가", 혹은 "미련한 놈"(22절)이라고 부르는 것은 다른 사람을 머리가 빈 사람, 혹은 천치라고 부르는 것과 같았습니다. 이 말은 상대방의 품위나 인격을 비하하는데 사용되었습니다. 모욕하며 부르는 말이 그렇게 파괴적인 이유는 그 말이 자신의 형상대로 그 사람을 창조하신 하나님을 모욕하는 것이기 때문입니다. 예수님은 제자들에게 우리 이웃사람을 높여주는 것이 우리가 매일 져야 할 짐이라고 가르치셨습니다. 우리가 주님의 가르침을 따른다면 다른 사람의 신분을 빼앗아버리는 죄를 범하지 않게 될 것입니다.

Matthew 5:21-26

[21] "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.'
[22] But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.
[23] "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
[24] leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.
[25] "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
[26] I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

기도하오니 사랑할 수 있도록 가르쳐주셔서
주님의 연민의 마음을 저도 갖게 하소서
한 잔의 물이라도 줄 수 있도록 준비하며
욕심 없이 남을 위해 살 수 있게 하소서

피조물을 모욕하는 것은 창조주를 모욕하는 것이다.

마태복음 5:21-26

[21] 옛 사람에게 말한 바 살인치 말라 누구든지 살인하면 심판을 받게 되리라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
[22] 나는 너희에게 이르노니 형제에게 노하는 자마다 심판을 받게 되고 형제를 대하여 라가라 하는 자는 공회에 잡히게 되고 미련한 놈이라 하는 자는 지옥 불에 들어가게 되리라
[23] 그러므로 예물을 제단에 드리다가 거기서 네 형제에게 원망들을 만한 일이 있는 줄 생각나거든
[24] 예물을 제단 앞에 두고 먼저 가서 형제와 화목하고 그 후에 와서 예물을 드리라
[25] 너를 송사하는 자와 함께 길에 있을 때에 급히 사화하라 그 송사하는 자가 너를 재판관에게 내어주고 재판관이 관예에게 내어주어 옥에 가둘까 염려하라
[26] 진실로 네게 이르노니 네가 호리라도 남김이 없이 다 갚기 전에는 결단코 거기서 나오지 못하리라
