A Promise Fulfilled		성취된 약속
[ Matthew 1:18 - 1:25 ] - hymn 115 She will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. -Matthew 1:21 In the off-season of baseball, managers and coaches concentrate on trading players to set themselves up for a winning season the next year. But if you are a Chicago Cubs fan like I am, you don't expect much because we haven't won a championship in years! That made the promise from a newly acquired player for the Cubs sound rather incredible. To a packed press conference, he said, "We are going to win the World Series!" I have to admit, it was hard not to be skeptical. It sounded like a promise that most likely he couldn't deliver. No doubt the Jews of Jesus' day who were living under the oppressive thumb of Rome had to wonder if God would ever make good on His promise to send a Deliverer who would forgive sin and restore the glory of Israel (Isa. 1:26; 53:12; 61). God had long ago promised them a Redeemer, but they hadn't heard a word from Him in 400 years. But then, at just the right moment, the angel announced to Joseph that Mary would give birth to a Son who would "save His people from their sins" (Matt. 1:21). Christmas proves that God is a promise-keeping God! He said that He would send a Deliverer, and He did. Your sin is not beyond the reach of this promise. He is ready and waiting to forgive your sins-all of them. -Joe Stowell		[ 마태복음 1:18 - 1:25 ] - 찬송가 115 장 아들을 낳으리니 이름을 예수라 하라 이는 그가 자기 백성을 저희 죄에서 구원할 자이심이라 하니라 -마태복음 1:21 야구의 정규시즌이 끝나면 감독과 코치 들은 다음 시즌의 승리를 목표로 팀을 정비하기 위해 선수 트레이드에 집중합니다. 그러나 당신이 나와 같은 시카고 컵스 팬이라면, 오랫동안 우승을 하지 못했기 때문에 별로 기대를 하지 않을 것입니다. 그래서 컵스에 새로 영입된 한 선수가 하였던 약속도 별로 믿을 수가 없었습니다. 그 선수는 사람들로 가득찬 기자회견에서 "우리는 월드시리즈에서 우승할 것입니다!"라고 말했습니다. 나는 과연 그가 약속을 지킬 수 있을지에 대해 회의적이었습니다. 나에게는 그가 거의 지킬 수 없는 약속을 하는 것처럼 들렸습니다. 예수님 당시 로마 압제하의 유대인들도 죄를 용서하고 이스라엘의 영광을 회복할 구원자를 보내시리라는 약속 (사 1:26, 53:12,61)을 하나님이 지키실 것인가에 대해 분명히 의심하였던 것 같습니다. 하나님은 오래전에 약속을 하셨습니다. 그러나 유대인들은 4백년간 하나님으로부터 아무런 말씀도 듣지 못하였습니다. 그러나 바로 그때, 최적의 순간에 천사가 요셉에게 "백성을 저희 죄에서 구원할" (마 1:21) 독생자가 마리아에게 태어날 것을 전하였습니다. 크리스마스는 하나님이 약속을 지키시는 하나님이심을 증명합니다. 하나님은 구원자를 보내실 것을 약속하셨고 그것을 지키셨습니다. 당신의 죄는 이 약속이 미치지 않는 곳에 있지 않습니다. 그는 당신의 모든 죄를 용서하실 준비가 되어있으며 용서하시기 위해 기다리십니다.

You can count on it-God makes good on His promises.

Matthew 1:18-25

[18] This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
[19] Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
[20] But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
[21] She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
[22] All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
[23] "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us."
[24] When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
[25] But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

만백성 맞아라
온 교회여 다 일어나
다 찬양하여라

하나님이 반드시 약속을 지키신다는 것을 믿어도 된다.

마태복음 1:18-25

[18] 예수 그리스도의 나심은 이러하니라 그 모친 마리아가 요셉과 정혼하고 동거하기 전에 성령으로 잉태된 것이 나타났더니
[19] 그 남편 요셉은 의로운 사람이라 저를 드러내지 아니하고 가만히 끊고자 하여
[20] 이 일을 생각할 때에 주의 사자가 현몽하여 가로되 다윗의 자손 요셉아 네 아내 마리아 데려오기를 무서워 말라 저에게 잉태된 자는 성령으로 된 것이라
[21] 아들을 낳으리니 이름을 예수라 하라 이는 그가 자기 백성을 저희 죄에서 구원할 자이심이라 하니라
[22] 이 모든 일의 된 것은 주께서 선지자로 하신 말씀을 이루려 하심이니 가라사대
[23] 보라 처녀가 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 것이요 그 이름은 임마누엘이라 하리라 하셨으니 이를 번역한즉 하나님이 우리와 함께 계시다 함이라
[24] 요셉이 잠을 깨어 일어나서 주의 사자의 분부대로 행하여 그 아내를 데려왔으나
[25] 아들을 낳기까지 동침치 아니하더니 낳으매 이름을 예수라 하니라
