Turn On The Lights		불을 켜라
[ Matthew 5:13 - 5:20 ] - hymn 276 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. - Matthew 5:14 People often ask me what I miss most about serving as president of Moody Bible Institute. Without question it's the students. I love their passion for Jesus and the way they demonstrate it to the world around them. Non-Christian employers often told me of the students' exemplary work ethic. Chicago's police super-intendent once said, "When the Moody students return to campus, it's like somebody turned on the lights on the Near North side." This is exactly what Jesus had in mind when He said, "You are the light of the world"(Matt.5:14). It's a powerful word picture of the impact of contrast. There should be a recognizable difference between the integrity of Christians and the prevailing darkness of our world. It's not about making speeches for Jesus; it's about people observing us. Even though they may not want to hear about Jesus, you can be sure they're watching to see if He makes a difference in our lives. When Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works"(v.16), He was saying that before we can speak up we have to show up. Our capacity to shine for Jesus is measured by our good works, which reveal His compelling reality in our lives. Let's turn on the lights. - Joe Stowell		[ 마태복음 5:13 - 5:20 ] - 찬송가 276 장 너희는 세상의 빛이라 산위에 있는 동네가 숨기우지 못할 것이요 - 마태복음 5:14 사람들은 가끔 나에게 무디 성경학교의 교장으로 재직하던 시절 중 무엇이 가장 그리우냐고 물어봅니다. 두말할 것도 없이 그것은 학생들입니다. 나는 그들의 예수님을 향한 열정과, 그들 주변의 세상에 나가서 그 열정을 보여주는 방식을 사랑합니다. 그리스도인이 아닌 고용주들이 학생들의 모범적인 직업윤리에 대해 종종 나에게 이야기해주었습니다. 한번은 시카고 경찰서장이 "무디 학생들이 개학을 하여 학교로 돌아오면 마치 누구인가가 니어노스사이드 지역에 불을 켜놓은 듯합니다."라고 말한 적도 있습니다. 이것이 바로 예수님이 "너희는 세상의 빛이라"(마5:14)고 말씀하셨을 때 그분이 생각하셨던 것입니다. 이 말씀은 서로 정반대가 되는 것을 대비시켜 그 영향력을 보여주는 아주 강력한 말씀입니다. 그리스도인들의 성실함과 정직성은 이 세상에 널리 퍼져 있는 어두움과는 뚜렷한 차이가 있어야 합니다. 이 말씀은 예수님에 대한 이야기가 아니라 우리를 지켜보고 있는 사람들에 관한 이야기입니다. 설혹 그들이 예수님에 대해 듣고 싶어 하지 않을지라도, 그들은 예수님이 과연 우리 인생을 변화시키고 있는가를 확실하게 보고 있는 것입니다. "너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고"(16절)라는 예수님의 말씀은 우리가 말을 앞세우기보다 먼저 행동으로 보여주라는 것입니다. 예수님을 위해 얼마나 빛을 발할 수 있는가는 우리의 선행으로 가늠됩니다. 왜냐하면 우리의 삶에 주님께서 강하게 임재하고 계시는 것이 그 선행들로 드러나기 때문입니다. 우리 모두 불을 켭시다.

To lead others out of the darkness of sin, let them see the light of Christ in your life.

Matthew 5:13-20

[13] "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
[14] "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
[15] Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
[16] In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
[17] "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
[18] I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
[19] Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
[20] For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

다른 이들이 주님의 빛을 볼 수 있도록
세상의 빛이 되고
구주의 등불을 높이 들어 올리게
당신은 거룩한 부름을 받았다

죄의 어둠에서 사람들을 건지기 위해
그들이 당신의 삶에서 그리스도의 빛을 보게 하라.

마태복음 5:13-20

[13] 너희는 세상의 소금이니 소금이 만일 그 맛을 잃으면 무엇으로 짜게 하리요 후에는 아무 쓸데 없어 다만 밖에 버리워 사람에게 밟힐 뿐이니라
[14] 너희는 세상의 빛이라 산 위에 있는 동네가 숨기우지 못할 것이요
[15] 사람이 등불을 켜서 말 아래 두지 아니하고 등경 위에 두나니 이러므로 집안 모든 사람에게 비취느니라
[16] 이같이 너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라
[17] 내가 율법이나 선지자나 폐하러 온 줄로 생각지 말라 폐하러 온 것이 아니요 완전케 하려 함이로다
[18] 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 천지가 없어지기 전에는 율법의 일점 일획이라도 반드시 없어지지 아니하고 다 이루리라
[19] 그러므로 누구든지 이 계명 중에 지극히 작은 것 하나라도 버리고 또 그같이 사람을 가르치는 자는 천국에서 지극히 작다 일컬음을 받을 것이요 누구든지 이를 행하며 가르치는 자는 천국에서 크다 일컬음을 받으리라
[20] 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희 의가 서기관과 바리새인보다 더 낫지 못하면 결단코 천국에 들어가지 못하리라
