Treasure In Heaven		하늘에 쌓아 둔 보물
[ Matthew 6:19 - 6:21 ] - hymn 511 Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. - Matthew 6:21 On a teaching trip to Togo, West Africa, I noticed hundreds of abandoned buildings that were only partially built. I asked my missionary host why so many structures were incomplete. His response was striking. Apparently, Togolese law allows an injured party to demand payment from the available cash of family members of the person who injured them. Even distant relatives are not exempt. To prevent their cash savings from being attached to a legal action, people will purchase land instead. Slowly, sometimes over decades, they will build a house on it with any extra cash. The hundreds of unfinished buildings were testimony to how easy it is to lose one's material possessions. This was certainly part of the reason our Lord taught, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal"(Matt. 6:19). Treasure that is of this world is vulnerable to being lost, stolen, destroyed, or devalued. If that is our focus, we will only experience frustration. If our hearts are drawn instead to the value of the eternal-godly character, relationships, souls-we won't be disappointed. We will become rich in the things of Christ. And treasure in heaven can never be taken away! - Bill Crowder		[ 마태복음 6:19 - 6:21 ] - 찬송가 511 장 네 보물 있는 그곳에는 네 마음도 있느니라－마태복음 6:21 서부 아프리카의 토고로 선교지 수학여행을 하고 있을 때, 많은 건물들이 일부분만 지어진 채 버려져 있는 것을 보았습니다. 나는 왜 그렇게 많은 건물들이 짓다 만 채로 남아있는지 담당 선교사에게 물어보았습니다. 그의 대답은 충격적이었습니다. 토고의 실정법으로는 피해자 측이 가해자의 가족에게도 현재 갖고 있는 현금을 요구할 수 있게 되어 있다고 합니다. 비록 먼 친척일지라도 면제되지 않습니다. 그래서 사람들은 법 집행으로부터 자신들이 저축한 현금을 지키기 위해 현금이 생기면 땅을 구입합니다. 그들은 천천히, 어떤 때는 수십 년에 걸쳐 여유 돈이 생기기만 하면 그것으로 그 땅 위에 집을 지을 것입니다. 미완성으로 남아 있는 많은 집들은 사람들이 얼마나 쉽게 자신의 물질적 소유를 잃어 버리는지를 보여주는 증거였습니다. 이 일은 분명 왜 우리 주님께서 "너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말라 거기는 좀과 동록이 해하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫고 도적질 하느니라"(마6:19)라고 훈계하셨는지 부분적이나마 설명이 될 것입니다. 이 땅에 둔 보물은 잃어버리거나, 도둑맞거나, 부서지거나, 제값을 잃어버리기 쉽습니다. 만일 이 땅의 보물이 우리의 주관심사라면, 우리는 단지 좌절만을 맛보게 될 것입니다. 하지만 그 대신 우리가 경건한 성품, 관계, 영혼과 같은 영원한 것들의 가치에 관심을 갖는다면 우리는 실망하지 않을 것입니다. 우리는 그리스도의 것으로 부요하게 될 것입니다. 그리고 하늘에 쌓아둔 보물은 결코 없어지지 않을 것입니다!

To hoard, decay, and rust,
But for the better things of life-

Treasures in heaven are laid up as treasures on earth are laid down.

Matthew 6:19-21

[19] "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
[20] But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
[21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

쌓아놓아도 썩어 못쓰게 될 뿐이니
나 여기서 보물을 구하지 않으리라
하지만 인생의 더 좋은 것 바라리니
주 앞에 겸손함과 변치 않는 신뢰라

세상의 보물을 포기할수록 하늘의 보물은 쌓여 간다.

마태복음 6:19-21

[19] 너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말라 거기는 좀과 동록이 해하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫고 도적질하느니라
[20] 오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아 두라 저기는 좀이나 동록이 해하지 못하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫지도 못하고 도적질도 못하느니라
[21] 네 보물 있는 그 곳에는 네 마음도 있느니라
