A Fragile Stone		깨어지기 쉬운 돌
[ Matthew 16:13 - 16:20 ] - hymn 349 Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." -Matthew 16:16 When writing on the life of Simon Peter, songwriter and author Michael Card described the apostle as "a fragile stone." It is a term filled with contrast, yet one that aptly describes Peter. Throughout Peter's life, we see this contrast lived out as he displayed moments of courage followed by spiritual failure. After his declaration of Christ as the Son of God, Jesus said to him, "I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18). A rock. A stone. Peter, whose name means "a small stone," proved to be fragile when he tried to dissuade Jesus from going to the cross, and when he denied Him three times after His arrest. Peter, the "fragile stone," reminds us that no amount of personal strength or talent can make us adequate for this life and its challenges. Only as we rest in the strength of Christ will we find His provision. When we acknowledge our frailty and dependence on Him, Christ's strength can empower us for the troubles life throws our way. Like Peter, we are all "fragile stones." How grateful we can be for His strength that is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). -Bill Crowder		[ 마태복음 16:13 - 16:20 ] - 찬송가 349 장 시몬 베드로가 대답하여 가로되 주는 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다－마태복음 16:16 작곡가이며 작가인 마이클 카드는 시몬 베드로의 생애에 대해 쓰면서 그를 "깨어지기 쉬운 돌" 이라고 표현했습니다. 이 말은 그 속에 대조적인 의미를 담고 있으면서도 너무나도 적절하게 베드로를 표현하고 있습니다. 베드로가 그의 생애에 걸쳐서 한 순간 용기있게 행동하다가 곧 이어 영적 실패를 범하는 것들에서 우리는 이러한 대조를 생생하게 볼 수 있습니다. 베드로가 그리스도를 하나님의 아들이시라고 고백할 때 예수님은 그에게 "또 내가 네게 이르노니 너는 베드로라 내가 이 반석 위에 내 교회를 세우리니 음부의 권세가 이기지 못하리라" (마 16:18)라고 말씀하셨습니다. "작은 돌" 이라는 뜻의 이름을 가진 베드로는 예수님께 십자가로 나가시지 말 것을 설득할 때, 그리고 예수님이 체포당한 후 주님을 세 번 부인할 때, 너무나 깨어지기 쉽다는 것이 판명되었습니다. "깨어지기 쉬운 돌" 인 베드로는 우리에게 이 세상과 그것의 도전을 이겨낼 어떠한 힘이나 재주도 없다는 것을 상기시켜줍니다. 오직 우리가 그리스도의 능력 안에서 쉴 때 우리는 주님께서 우리를 위해 예비하신 것을 발견할 것입니다. 우리가 우리의 약함을 인정하고 주님께 의지해야만 함을 인정할 때 그리스도의 능력이 우리에게 삶의 고난들을 이겨낼 힘을 줄 것입니다. 베드로처럼 우리는 모두 "깨어지기 쉬운 돌" 입니다. 내 능력이 약한 데서 온전하여지는 주님의 능력이 얼마나 감사한지요 (고후12:9-10).

God uses weakness to reveal
His great sufficiency;
So if we let Him work through us,
His power we will see. -Sper

Only when we acknowledge our weakness can we be strong in the Lord.

Matthew 16:13-20

[13] When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
[14] They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
[15] "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
[16] Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
[17] Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.
[18] And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
[19] I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
[20] Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

하나님은 우리의 약함을 통해
주님의 위대한 능력을 나타내시니
하나님이 우리를 통해 역사하시게 하면
우리는 주님의 능력을 보게 되리

오직 우리의 약함을 인정할 때 우리는 주님 안에서 강해질 수 있다.

마태복음 16:13-20

[16] 시몬 베드로가 대답하여 가로되 주는 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다
[17] 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 바요나 시몬아 네가 복이 있도다 이를 네게 알게 한 이는 혈육이 아니요 하늘에 계신 내 아버지시니라
[18] 또 내가 네게 이르노니 너는 베드로라 내가 이 반석 위에 내 교회를 세우리니 음부의 권세가 이기지 못하리라
[19] 내가 천국 열쇠를 네게 주리니 네가 땅에서 무엇이든지 매면 하늘에서도 매일 것이요 네가 땅에서 무엇이든지 풀면 하늘에서도 풀리리라 하시고
[20] 이에 제자들을 경계하사 자기가 그리스도인 것을 아무에게도 이르지 말라 하시니라
