The World Without		주님 없는 세상
[ Matthew 23:13 - 23:23 ] - hymn 521 You pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. - Matthew 23:23 Personal faith in Christ comes with social obligations. If we believe that He reigns as Lord over history as well as Lord over our individual lives, we dare not focus solely on the "world within" and forget the "world without." Restricting His sovereignty to our personal struggles demeans Him. What do we imply about the Savior when we seek God's will about moving to another city or marrying someone, but never seek His mind on the plight of the homeless, the rights of the unborn, or racial equality? Cultivating the inner life, vital as that is, without struggling with social issues is too limited and soft. We must think about how Christ wants us to respond to the unjust situations in our community and the world at large. On the other hand, to emphasize social concern without stressing devotion to the Lord resembles dancing on one foot. If we are deeply committed to a cause but not deeply committed to Christ, we may trade away the power of God for the power of politics. Ungodly people refuse to acknowledge Christ's lordship in their decisions. But what excuse can we as Christians offer when we forget that His rule over "the world within" also extends to "the world without"? - Haddon Robinson		[ 마태복음 23:13 - 23:23 ] - 찬송가 521 장 너희가 박하와 회향과 근채의 십일조를 드리되 율법의 더 중한바 의와 인과 신은 버렸도다－마태복음 23:23 그리스도에 대한 개인적 믿음에는 사회적 책임이 수반됩니다. 만일 우리가 예수님께서 우리들 개인 삶의 주님으로서뿐 아니라 역사의 주관자로서 통치하신다고 믿는다면, 오로지 "주님 안의 세상"에만 관심을 갖고 "주님 없는 세상"에 대해서 잊어서는 결코 안 될 것입니다. 주님의 통치권을 우리의 개인적 곤경에만 국한시키는 것은 주님의 격을 떨어뜨리는 것입니다. 우리가 다른 도시로 이사할 때나 누군가와 결혼할 때에는 하나님의 뜻을 구하고, 집 없는 사람들의 어려움, 태아의 권리문제, 혹은 인종평등의 문제들에 대해서는 하나님의 뜻을 구하지 않는다면 구주 예수님에 대해서 어떻게 생각하고 있는 것일까요? 내면의 삶을 가꾸는 것도 그 자체로 중요하긴 하지만, 사회적 문제점에 대한 고뇌가 함께 하지 않는다면 그것은 너무 제한적이고 안일한 것입니다. 우리는 예수님께서 우리가 지역사회와 온 세상에서 일어나는 부당한 상황들에 대해 어떻게 대응하기를 원하시는지 생각해야만 합니다. 반면에 주님에 대한 헌신을 강조하지 않고 사회적 문제점들만을 강조하는 것은 마치 한 발로만 춤추는 것과 비슷합니다. 만일 우리가 그리스도에 대한 깊은 헌신 없이 어떤 문제에만 깊이 관여한다면, 우리는 정치적인 힘에만 의지하고 하나님의 능력을 무시하는 것이 될 것입니다. 신앙심이 없는 사람들은 자신들의 결정에 있어서 주님의 통치권을 인정하기를 거부합니다. 그러나 그리스도인인 우리가 "주님 안의 세상"에 대한 주님의 통치가 "주님 없는 세상"에도 역시 확장된다는 사실을 잊을 때 어떤 변명을 할 수 있겠습니까?

One measure of our likeness to Christ is our sensitivity to the suffering of others.

Matthew 23:13-23

[13] "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.
[14] "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Therefore you will be punished more severely.
[15] "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
[16] "Woe to you, blind guides! You say, 'If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.'
[17] You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?
[18] You also say, 'If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.'
[19] You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
[20] Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
[21] And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it.
[22] And he who swears by heaven swears by God's throne and by the one who sits on it.
[23] "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

만일 내가 한 사람을 바로 세울 수 있다면
만일 내가 한 사람을 강해지도록 도울 수 있다면
만일 내가 미소나 노래로 위로할 수 있다면
주님, 어떻게 하는지 제게 보여 주소서

타인의 고통에 얼마나 민감한지가 우리가 예수님과 얼마나 닮았는지에 대한 하나의 잣대이다.

마태복음 23:13-23

[13] 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희는 천국 문을 사람들 앞에서 닫고 너희도 들어가지 않고 들어가려 하는 자도 들어가지 못하게 하는도다
[14] (없음)
[15] 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희는 교인 하나를 얻기 위하여 바다와 육지를 두루 다니다가 생기면 너희보다 배나 더 지옥 자식이 되게 하는도다
[16] 화 있을진저 소경된 인도자여 너희가 말하되 누구든지 성전으로 맹세하면 아무 일 없거니와 성전의 금으로 맹세하면 지킬지라 하는도다
[17] 우맹이요 소경들이여 어느 것이 크뇨 그 금이냐 금을 거룩하게 하는 성전이냐
[18] 너희가 또 이르되 누구든지 제단으로 맹세하면 아무 일 없거니와 그 위에 있는 예물로 맹세하면 지킬지라 하는도다
[19] 소경들이여 어느 것이 크뇨 그 예물이냐 예물을 거룩하게 하는 제단이냐
[20] 그러므로 제단으로 맹세하는 자는 제단과 그 위에 있는 모든 것으로 맹세함이요
[21] 또 성전으로 맹세하는 자는 성전과 그 안에 계신 이로 맹세함이요
[22] 또 하늘로 맹세하는 자는 하나님의 보좌와 그 위에 앉으신 이로 맹세함이니라
[23] 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희가 박하와 회향과 근채의 십일조를 드리되 율법의 더 중한 바 의와 인과 신은 버렸도다 그러나 이것도 행하고 저것도 버리지 말아야 할지니라
