Tight Lines		팽팽한 낚싯줄
[ Matthew 4:18 - 4:20 ] - hymn 373 Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear. - 1 Peter 3:15 Fishermen sometimes bestow this blessing on one another: "May you keep a tight line," by which we mean, "May you always have a trout on your line." As I've gotten older, however, I must confess that a tight line means less to me now than it once did. I get as much enjoyment from fishing as I do from catching. When I'm fishing, I have more time to walk streamside and enjoy the solitude and silence, and to look for places where fish might be lurking. When I try too hard to catch, I lose too many fish and the enjoyment of the day. Jesus calls us to be fishers of men, not catchers (Matthew 4:19). My job is to go where the fish are, walk among them, study their habitat, and learn their ways. And then to toss out a line and see if one rises to the surface. There's more enjoyment in that easy effort, and I have better results. So I want to fish for people, looking for opportunities to speak a word about Jesus, casting here and there, and leaving the results with God. It's more calming for me and for the fish-the folks who might get spooked by my clumsiness. Thus I now bless my fellow fishers with: "May you keep your line in the water." Or, as another fisherman once put it, "Always be ready" (1 Peter 3:15). - David Roper		[ 마태복음 4:18 - 4:20 ] - 찬송가 373 장 너희 속에 있는 소망에 관한 이유를 묻는 자에게는 대답할 것을 항상 예비하되 온유와 두려움으로 하고 - 베드로전서 3:15 낚시꾼들은 가끔 서로에게 행운을 빌어주면서 "낚싯줄이 계속 팽팽하길 바랍니다" 라고 말하는데, 이 말은 "낚싯줄에 송어가 항상 걸리기를 바란다"는 뜻입니다. 그러나 나는 나이가 들어가면서 팽팽한 낚싯줄이 전처럼 그렇게 많은 의미를 갖지 않게 되는 것을 고백합니다. 나는 그저 낚시하는 것 자체가 물고기를 잡는 일만큼 즐겁습니다. 낚시를 하는 동안 물가를 따라 걸으며 고독과 침묵을 즐기고, 물고기가 있을 만한 곳을 찾는 데 시간을 더 많이 보냅니다. 물고기를 잡으려고 너무 애를 쓰면 물고기를 많이 놓칠 뿐더러 그 날의 즐거움마저도 잃어버리게 됩니다. 예수님께서는 우리를 사람을 낚는 어부로 부르셨지, 잡는 어부로 부르시지 않으셨습니다 (마 4:19). 나의 일은 물고기가 있는 곳에 가서 그들 사이로 다니며, 서식환경도 연구하고 그들의 생활방식을 배우는 것입니다. 그리고는 낚싯줄을 던져 물고기가 표면에 떠오르는 지를 봅니다. 그렇게 느긋한 방법으로 낚시하면 더 재미가 있고 결과도 더 좋습니다. 그래서 나는 예수님에 대해 이야기할 기회를 찾으면서 여기저기 낚싯줄을 던져보고 결과는 하나님께 맡기면서 사람들을 낚기를 원합니다. 그 편이 내게도, 또 그 물고기들, 즉 서투른 나로 인해 불편해 할 수도 있는 사람들에게도 훨씬 평온한 방법입니다. 그래서 이제 나는 동료 낚시꾼들에게 "당신의 낚싯줄이 계속 물 속에 있길 바랍니다" 라고 축복을 해줍니다. 혹은 언젠가 어떤 어부가 했던 말을 해줍니다. "항상 예비하라" (벧전 3:15).

[18] As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
[19] "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
[20] At once they left their nets and followed him.

추수할 밭은 희어져 있는데
일꾼이 너무 적구나
심령들은 복음을 기다리고 있고
예수님은 아직도 당신에게 기대하고 계시네

영혼들을 낚을 때, 믿음으로 그물을 던지고 사랑으로 거두라.
