[ Matthew 5:13 - 5:16 ] - hymn 358 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. - Matthew 5:16 A businessman gave his heart to Jesus as a result of a Billy Graham evangelistic event. When he told his co-workers, his Christian business partner was elated. But the new believer hadn't known about his faith, and said, "You know, you're one reason I resisted becoming a Christian for several years. I figured that if someone like you could live a good life and not be a Christian, there was no need for me to become one." A friend of mine and I were doing business in a local bank. He needed to change a $100 bill. By mistake the teller counted out six $20 bills. When my friend discovered the error, he walked back into the bank and quietly told her what had happened. The teller said, "I can't thank you enough. I would have had to make up the difference. Obviously, you are an honest man." He replied, "The reason I am honest is that I'm a committed follower of Jesus Christ. Giving you back the money is something He would want me to do." Christians should lead exemplary lives. But it's important that we reveal the Source of strength and life who enables us to be different. As Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). - Haddon Robinson		[ 마태복음 5:13 - 5:16 ] - 찬송가 358 장 이같이 너희 빛을 사람앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라 - 마태복음 5:16 한 사업가가 빌리 그래함 부흥집회에 참석하였다가 예수님을 영접하게 되었습니다. 그가 자기 동료에게 이 사실을 알리자 그리스도인인 그 동업자는 매우 기뻐하였습니다. 그러나 이 초신자는 그 친구가 신자인 줄도 모르고 다음과 같이 말했습니다. "사실 여러 해 동안 내가 그리스도인이 되는 것을 망설인 이유 중 하나는 바로 자네라네. 나는 자네처럼 그리스도인이 아니면서도 선한 삶을 살 수 있다면 구태여 그리스도인이 될 필요가 없다고 생각했었다네." 나와 내 친구가 한 은행에 들러서 일을 보고 있었습니다. 그는 100불짜리 지폐를 거슬러야 했습니다. 그런데 창구 행원이 실수로 20불짜리 여섯 장을 내 주었습니다. 그 친구는 실수를 발견하자 은행으로 다시 돌아가서 그 여행원에게 그 사실을 조용히 알려 주었습니다. 그 창구 행원은 다음과 같이 말했습니다. "정말 무어라 감사를 드려야 할 지 모르겠습니다. 제가 차액을 물게 될 뻔 했는데 말입니다. 당신은 정말 정직한 분이시군요." 내 친구는 다음과 같이 대답했습니다. "제가 정직한 이유는 제가 예수님을 믿고 따르는 사람이기 때문입니다. 당신께 돈을 돌려드린 이유는 예수님께서 그렇게 하기를 원하시기 때문입니다." 그리스도인은 모범적인 삶을 살아야 합니다. 그러나 중요한 것은 우리가 구별된 삶을 살도록 하는 힘이 어디에서 나오는 지를 사람들에게 드러내는 것입니다. 예수님께서 말씀하신 대로 "이같이 너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게"(마 5:16) 하십시오.

[13] "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
[14] "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
[15] Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
[16] In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

캄캄한 밤중에
밝게 빛나는 빛처럼
진리와 의의 편에 서리
온 세상이 알게 하리!

[13] 너희는 세상의 소금이니 소금이 만일 그 맛을 잃으면 무엇으로 짜게 하리요 후에는 아무 쓸데 없어 다만 밖에 버리워 사람에게 밟힐 뿐이니라
[14] 너희는 세상의 빛이라 산 위에 있는 동네가 숨기우지 못할 것이요
[15] 사람이 등불을 켜서 말 아래 두지 아니하고 등경 위에 두나니 이러므로 집안 모든 사람에게 비취느니라
[16] 이같이 너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라
