Hypocritical Request		위선적인 요청
[ Matthew 16:1 - 16:4 ] - hymn 171 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. - Matthew 16:4 A group of religious leaders asked Jesus to give them a "sign from heaven" (Matthew 16:1). They had witnessed many of His miracles, but they had either minimized them or attributed them to Satan. The Pharisees were now demanding that Jesus perform another miracle-perhaps like Joshua who commanded the sun and moon to stand still (Joshua 10:12-14), or like Elijah who called down fire from heaven (1 Kings 18:30-40). They did this to test Jesus. Seeing their hypocrisy, Jesus said that while they could make weather predictions by looking at the sky, they were unable to read the much clearer "signs of the times" revealed in His ministry of teaching and healing (v.3). Some people have told me they would believe in Jesus if He showed them miracles like those in the Gospels. But what makes them think they would react any differently than the religious leaders of Jesus' day- Anyone who sincerely seeks the truth has all the evidence necessary for faith. The resurrection of Jesus is a historically credible event. The power of the risen Christ can be seen in many of His followers. The New Testament speaks to the mind and heart of every sincere, seeking soul. To ask for more is a hypocritical request. - Herb Vander Lugt		[ 마태복음 16:1 - 16:4 ] - 찬송가 171 장 악하고 음란한 세대가 표적을 구하나 요나의 표적밖에는 보여줄 표적이 없느니라 - 마태복음 16:4 한 무리의 종교 지도자들이 예수님께 "하늘로서 오는 표적"을 그들에게 보여달라고 요구했습니다 (마 16:1). 그들은 예수님의 많은 기적을 목격했지만, 그것들을 대수롭지 않게 여겼거나 아니면 사탄의 능력 때문인 것으로 돌렸습니다. 바리새인들은 이제 예수님께 또 다른 기적을 행하라고 강요하고 있었습니다. 이를테면 해와 달을 멈추라고 명령했던 여호수아나 (수 10:12-14), 하늘에서 불이 내리라고 명령했던 엘리야 (왕상 18:30-40)가 보여준 기적과 같은 기적 말입니다. 그들은 예수님을 시험해 보려고 그렇게 했던 것입니다. 그들의 위선을 간파하신 예수님은 저희가 하늘을 쳐다보고 날씨는 예측할 줄 알면서도, 예수님의 가르침과 병고침의 사역을 통해 드러난 보다 확실한 "시대의 표적"은 분별하지 못한다고 말씀하셨습니다 (3절). 만일 예수님께서 복음서에 있는 것과 같은 기적을 자기에게 보여주신다면 예수님을 믿을 것이라고 나에게 말하는 사람들이 있습니다. 그러나 자신들이 예수님 시대의 종교 지도자들과 조금이나마 다르게 반응을 할 것이라고 그들이 어떻게 하면 생각할 수 있겠습니까? 진정으로 진리를 탐구하는 사람은 누구나 이미 믿음에 필요한 모든 증거를 가지고 있습니다. 예수님의 부활은 역사적으로 신빙성 있는 사건입니다. 부활하신 그리스도의 능력은 예수를 추종하는 많은 사람들에게서 볼 수 있습니다. 신약성경은 진지하게 추구하는 모든 심령들의 마음과 생각을 말해주고 있습니다. 더 이상 요구하는 것은 위선적인 요청입니다.

Some say they want a miracle,
And then they will believe;
Yet God already sent His Son-

Demanding a miracle to believe in Jesus
ignores the evidence of His resurrection.

Matthew 16:1-4

[1] The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven.
[2] He replied, "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,'
[3] and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.
[4] A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." Jesus then left them and went away.

기적을 보여주면
믿겠다고 하는 사람들도 있으나
하나님은 우리가 영접해야 할
오직 한 분 그의 아들을 이미 보내셨네

예수님을 믿기 위하여 기적을 요구하는 것은
그의 부활의 증거를 무시하는 것이다.

[2] 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 너희가 저녁에 하늘이 붉으면 날이 좋겠다 하고
[3] 아침에 하늘이 붉고 흐리면 오늘은 날이 궂겠다 하나니 너희가 천기는 분별할 줄 알면서 시대의 표적은 분별할 수 없느냐
[4] 악하고 음란한 세대가 표적을 구하나 요나의 표적 밖에는 보여줄 표적이 없느니라 하시고 저희를 떠나가시다
