[ Matthew 14:14 - 14:21 ] - hymn 505 When Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them. - Matthew 14:14 It was a tragic mistake. On July 3, 1988, the guided-missile cruiser USS Vincennes shot down an Iranian airliner with 290 souls aboard. All were lost. The ship's captain mistakenly thought they were under attack by an F-14 Iranian fighter. Public opinion polls showed that most Americans opposed paying compensation to the victims' families. The cruel treatment of American hostages in Iran was still fresh in many minds. But President Reagan approved compensation. Asked by reporters if such payment would send the wrong signal, he replied, "I don't ever find compassion a bad precedent." The principle of revenge is so much simpler to practice. Yet compassion is Christ's way-a deep caring for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the whole person. It reveals the heart of God for sinful people-for you and for me. The feeding of the 5,000 was a miracle born out of compassion. Jesus was moved by the physical and spiritual needs of the people (Matthew 14:14; Mark 6:34). He was not content just to teach them and then send them on their way. As Christians, we must look at the whole person through the eyes of Jesus. Being moved by compassion always sends the right signal. - Dennis De Haan		[ 마태복음 14:14 - 14:21 ] - 찬송가 505 장 예수께서 나오사 큰 무리를 보시고 불쌍히 여기사 - 마태복음 14:14 그것은 비극적인 실수였습니다. 1988년 7월 3일, 유도탄 순양함 빈센스호는 290명의 승객이 타고 있는 이란의 여객기를 격추시켰습니다. 모두가 목숨을 잃었습니다. 그 배의 함장은 이란의 F-14 전투기로부터 공격을 받고 있다고 잘못 생각했던 것입니다. 여론 조사에 의하면 대부분의 미국 사람들은 희생자 가족에게 보상해 주는 것을 반대하고 있었습니다. 이란에서 미국인 인질들을 잔인하게 대우했던 것이 아직도 많은 사람들의 마음 속에 생생하게 살아 있었습니다. 그러나 레이건 대통령은 그 보상을 승인했습니다. 신문 기자들이 만일 그 보상이 잘못된 신호를 보내게 되면 어떻게 할 것이냐고 묻자 그는 "동정심이 나쁜 선례를 가져오는 경우를 본 적이 없습니다."라고 대답했습니다. 복수의 원칙은 실행하기가 훨씬 쉽습니다. 그러나 동정심은 그리스도의 방법, 즉 한 사람의 모든 육체적, 정서적, 그리고 영적인 필요들을 깊이 보살펴 주는 것입니다. 이것은 죄지은 사람들, 즉 당신과 나를 위한 하나님의 마음을 나타내는 것입니다. 오천 명을 먹인 것은 애정으로부터 나온 기적입니다. 예수님은 사람들의 육체적, 정신적 갈구를 불쌍히 여기십니다 (마 14:14, 막 6:34). 예수님은 단지 사람들을 가르쳐서 그들의 갈 길로 보내는 것에 만족하지 않으셨습니다. 그리스도인으로서 우리는 예수님의 눈으로 사람의 모든 면을 보아야 합니다. 동정심을 가지고 불쌍히 여기는 것은 언제나 올바른 신호를 보냅니다.

Compassion is love in action.

Matthew 14:14-21

[14] When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
[15] As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food."
[16] Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."
[17] "We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered.
[18] "Bring them here to me," he said.
[19] And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
[20] They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
[21] The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

예수님 당신처럼, 예수님 당신처럼
동정심 있고 부드러운 마음을 허락해 주소서
제 주위에 몰려오는 필요한 자들에게
하나님의 사랑을 가득 채워주소서

동정심은 행동으로 나타나는 사랑이다.

마태복음 14:14-21

[14] 예수께서 나오사 큰 무리를 보시고 불쌍히 여기사 그 중에 있는 병인을 고쳐 주시니라
[15] 저녁이 되매 제자들이 나아와 가로되 이곳은 빈 들이요 때도 이미 저물었으니 무리를 보내어 마을에 들어가 먹을 것을 사먹게 하소서
[16] 예수께서 가라사대 갈 것 없다 너희가 먹을 것을 주라
[17] 제자들이 가로되 여기 우리에게 있는 것은 떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리뿐이니이다
[18] 가라사대 그것을 내게 가져오라 하시고
[19] 무리를 명하여 잔디 위에 앉히시고 떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리를 가지사 하늘을 우러러 축사하시고 떡을 떼어 제자들에게 주시매 제자들이 무리에게 주니
[20] 다 배불리 먹고 남은 조각을 열두 바구니에 차게 거두었으며
[21] 먹은 사람은 여자와 아이 외에 오천 명이나 되었더라
