[ Matthew 26:6 - 26:13 ] - hymn 369 Wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her. - Matthew 26:13 The heroes and heroines of the Bible often take us by surprise. The woman in today's Scripture reading is a prime example. (John 12:3 tells us her name was Mary.) She was singled out by Jesus to be mentioned wherever the gospel is preached. Mary had scandalized some of those dining with Jesus by her lavish devotion as she anointed Him with perfume worth more than a year's wages. I believe Mary did this in anticipation of Jesus' death. "Why this waste?" asked those at the table who expressed a concern for the poor (Matthew 26:8-9). If they had been attending Jesus' funeral rather than a dinner with Him, they may have reacted quite differently. Yet, when Mary showed Him her extravagant love while He was alive, she was severely criticized for such waste. We can learn a valuable lesson from Mary's devotion. We need to break out our best perfumes for the living. Yet all too often we wait until someone we know has died to show the appreciation that we fail to show in life. Is there someone who comes to your mind, a friend or family member, who would be honored and encouraged by an expression of your love and appreciation? Then do something to show it-while the person is still alive. - Haddon Robinson		[ 마태복음 26:6 - 26:13 ] - 찬송가 369 장 온 천하에 어디서든지 이 복음이 전파되는 곳에는 이 여자의 행한 일도 말하여 저를 기념하리라 하시니라 - 마태복음 26:13 성경에 나오는 남녀 인물들이 우리를 깜짝 놀라게 할 때가 많이 있습니다. 오늘 성경 본문의 여인이 좋은 예입니다. (요 12장 3절은 이 여자의 이름이 마리아라고 말합니다.) 예수님께서는 이 여인을 특별히 선택해서 복음이 전파되는 곳마다 이 여인을 언급하라고 하셨습니다. 일년 수입 이사에 해당하는 값어치의 비싼 향유를 예수님께 부어드린 마리아의 헌신은 예수님과 한 자리에서 식사하던 몇 사람을 분개시켰습니다. 마리아는 예수님께서 곧 죽으실 것을 알고 이렇게 했다고 생각됩니다. "무슨 의사로 이것을 허비하느뇨?"하고 그 자리에 있던 몇 사람은 가난한 사람을 걱정하며 비난했습니다(마 26:8-9). 만일 그 자리가 예수님과의 저녁식사가 아니고 예수님의 장례식이었다면, 사람들의 반응이 무척 달랐을 것입니다. 하지만 예수님이 살아 계실 때에 마리아가 그녀의 놀라운 사랑을 표시하였기에, 그러한 낭비로 인하여 마리아는 몹시 비난 받았습니다. 마리아의 헌신을 통해 우리는 귀중한 교훈을 얻을 수 있습니다. 살아 있는 사람들을 위해 우리의 최상의 향유병을 깨어야 하는 것입니다. 그러나 흔히 우리는 아는 사람이 살아 있을 때에 감사를 표시하지 않고 그 사람이 죽은 후에야 그렇게 합니다. 친구나 가족 중 당신으로부터 사랑과 감사의 표시를 받고 힘을 얻고 기뻐할 것으로 생각되는 사람이 있습니까? 그렇다면 어떤 방법으로 든 표현하십시오. 그 사람이 아직 살아 있을 때에 말입니다.

Encourage them while they are near;
For when they've gone to their reward,

Give praise to others while they are here; they won't need it in the hereafter.

Matthew 26:6-13

[6] While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper,
[7] a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.
[8] When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked.
[9] "This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor."
[10] Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me.
[11] The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.
[12] When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.
[13] I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her."

그들이 가까이 있을 때에 힘이 되어 주세요
그들이 보상을 받으러 간 후에는
아무리 크게 하는 칭찬도 들을 수 없답니다

여기 있을 때에 칭찬하라. 저 세상에서는 칭찬이 필요 없다.

마태복음 26:6-13

[6] 예수께서 베다니 문둥이 시몬의 집에 계실 때에
[7] 한 여자가 매우 귀한 향유 한 옥합을 가지고 나아와서 식사하시는 예수의 머리에 부으니
[8] 제자들이 보고 분하여 가로되 무슨 의사로 이것을 허비하느뇨
[9] 이것을 많은 값에 팔아 가난한 자들에게 줄 수 있었겠도다 하거늘
[10] 예수께서 아시고 저희에게 이르시되 너희가 어찌하여 이 여자를 괴롭게 하느냐 저가 내게 좋은 일을 하였느니라
[11] 가난한 자들은 항상 너희와 함께 있거니와 나는 항상 함께 있지 아니하리라
[12] 이 여자가 내 몸에 이 향유를 부은 것은 내 장사를 위하여 함이니라
[13] 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 온 천하에 어디서든지 이 복음이 전파되는 곳에는 이 여자의 행한 일도 말하여 저를 기념하리라 하시니라
