[ Matthew 26:36 - 26:44 ] - hymn 434 O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done. - Matthew 26:42 Have you or a friend been afflicted with an illness for which there is no medical cure? Has God denied your repeated requests for healing? Has His refusal to say yes caused you to question His purpose? An article by Carol Bradley tells us about the wisdom of Craig Satterlee, a seminary professor in Chicago. He has been legally blind since birth, with only 20 percent of normal vision. Does he complain, saying that God has not kept His promise to answer prayer? By no means! He believes wholeheartedly that God has given him something even better. "I am whole," he testifies, "even though I am legally blind." If introduced as a believer in the power of prayer, he graciously explains, "I don't believe in the power of prayer. I believe in the power and presence of God, so I pray." He adds, "We know that God brings light out of darkness, life out of death, hope out of despair. That's what Scripture teaches us." Prayer isn't the way to get God to do whatever we want. It's an expression of our trust in His power, wisdom, and grace. God's answers are wiser than our prayers.

Matthew 26:36-44

[36] Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."
[37] He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled.
[38] Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me."
[39] Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
[40] Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter.
[41] "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
[42] He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."
[43] When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy.
[44] So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.

어떤 멋진 방법인지는 몰라도
하나님이 기도에 응답하신다는 것을 안다네.
내 기도를 하나님께 맡기네
나보다 더 현명한 의지를 가진 그분께.

하나님의 응답은 우리의 기도보다 현명하다.

마태복음 26:36-44

[36] 이에 예수께서 제자들과 함께 겟세마네라 하는 곳에 이르러 제자들에게 이르시되 내가 저기 가서 기도할 동안에 너희는 여기 앉아 있으라 하시고
[37] 베드로와 세베대의 두 아들을 데리고 가실새 고민하고 슬퍼하사
[38] 이에 말씀하시되 내 마음이 심히 고민하여 죽게 되었으니 너희는 여기 머물러 나와 함께 깨어 있으라 하시고
[39] 조금 나아가사 얼굴을 땅에 대시고 엎드려 기도하여 가라사대 내 아버지여 만일 할만하시거든 이 잔을 내게서 지나가게 하옵소서 그러나 나의 원대로 마옵시고 아버지의 원대로 하옵소서 하시고
[40] 제자들에게 오사 그 자는 것을 보시고 베드로에게 말씀하시되 너희가 나와 함께 한 시 동안도 이렇게 깨어 있을 수 없더냐
[41] 시험에 들지 않게 깨어 있어 기도하라 마음에는 원이로되 육신이 약하도다 하시고
[42] 다시 두 번째 나아가 기도하여 가라사대 내 아버지여 만일 내가 마시지 않고는 이 잔이 내게서 지나갈 수 없거든 아버지의 원대로 되기를 원하나이다 하시고
[43] 다시 오사 보신즉 저희가 자니 이는 저희 눈이 피곤함일러라
[44] 또 저희를 두시고 나아가 세 번째 동일한 말씀으로 기도하신 후
