The Storm		폭풍
[ Matthew 7:21 - 7:29 ] - hymn 379 Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock. - Matthew 7:24 Neal Beidleman survived the ill-fated 1996 expedition in which eight climbers died on Mount Everest. Some of them had paid $65,000 for a chance to scale the world's highest peak. In assessing what went wrong, Beidleman said, "Tragedies and disasters ... are not the result of a single decision, a single event, or a single mistake. They are the culmination of things in your life. Something happens and it becomes a catalyst for all the things you've had at risk." On Everest, that "something" was a raging blizzard. According to journalist Todd Burgess, "If not for the storm, the climbers may have gotten away with taking so many risks. But the storm exposed their weaknesses." The things at risk in our lives today-matters of spiritual indifference or disobedience-can overwhelm us when the storms come. Jesus told a story of the wise and foolish builders to stress the importance of obedience to His words (Matthew 7:24-27). He said, "Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock" (v.24). The storms of life reveal the strength of our faith.

Matthew 7:21-29

[21] "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
[22] Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'
[23] Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
[24] "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
[25] The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
[26] But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
[27] The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
[28] When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching,
[29] because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

매일 주님을 위해 살고 주님을 경외함은
영혼이 폭풍의 길에서 가장 잘 준비하는 것.
그리하면 시험이 닥쳐와 절망의 유혹을 받을 때
주님의 보호 안에 안전하고 편히 쉴 수 있으리.

인생의 폭풍은 믿음의 강도를 드러낸다.

마태복음 7:21-29

[21] 나더러 주여 주여 하는 자마다 천국에 다 들어갈 것이 아니요 다만 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 뜻대로 행하는 자라야 들어가리라
[22] 그 날에 많은 사람이 나더러 이르되 주여 주여 우리가 주의 이름으로 선지자 노릇하며 주의 이름으로 귀신을 쫓아 내며 주의 이름으로 많은 권능을 행치 아니하였나이까 하리니
[23] 그 때에 내가 저희에게 밝히 말하되 내가 너희를 도무지 알지 못하니 불법을 행하는 자들아 내게서 떠나가라 하리라
[24] 그러므로 누구든지 나의 이 말을 듣고 행하는 자는 그 집을 반석 위에 지은 지혜로운 사람 같으리니
[25] 비가 내리고 창수가 나고 바람이 불어 그 집에 부딪히되 무너지지 아니하나니 이는 주초를 반석 위에 놓은 연고요
[26] 나의 이 말을 듣고 행치 아니하는 자는 그 집을 모래 위에 지은 어리석은 사람 같으리니
[27] 비가 내리고 창수가 나고 바람이 불어 그 집에 부딪히매 무너져 그 무너짐이 심하니라
[28] 예수께서 이 말씀을 마치시매 무리들이 그 가르치심에 놀래니
[29] 이는 그 가르치시는 것이 권세 있는 자와 같고 저희 서기관들과 같지 아니함일러라
