Shine!		빛을 발하라!
[ Matthew 5:14 - 5:16 ] - hymn 488 I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. - John 8:12 Author Anne Lamott once wrote that the people she admires have "purpose, heart, balance, gratitude, joy.... They follow a brighter light than the glimmer of their own candle; they are part of something beautiful." In my experience, such people are not simply religious. They are committed disciples of Christ. Jesus explained why His followers have a sort of luminous quality. "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" (John 8:12). Believing in Jesus as our Savior, we now can light up the world. We are told, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). This doesn't mean we must always display an artificial cheerfulness. Many of us don't possess a sunny disposition. We may struggle with moods of depression. We may have to battle melancholy. But in the Holy Spirit's power, we can be like the Christians to whom Paul wrote, "You shine as lights in the world" (Philippians 2:15). As Francis of Assisi put it: "Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace! Where there is hatred, let me sow love; ... where there is darkness, light." Just as the moon reflects the radiance of the sun, so we who believe and follow the Savior can reflect Him who is the light of the world. - Vernon Grounds		[ 마태복음 5:14 - 5:16 ] - 찬송가 488 장 "나는 세상의 빛이니 나를 따르는 자는 어두움에 다니지 아니하고 생명의 빛을 얻으리라" - 요한복음 8:12 작가인 앤 라모트는 자신이 존경하는 사람들은 "목적, 온정, 균형, 감사, 기쁨… 등을 가졌으며 그들 자신들의 촛불에서 나오는 미미한 빛보다 더 밝은 빛을 따르며 아름다운 어떤 것의 일부분이다"라고 썼습니다. 내 경험으로는 그런 사람들은 단순히 신앙적인 사람이 아니라 그리스도께 헌신된 제자들입니다. 예수님께서는 왜 그를 따르는 자들이 일종의 빛의 자질을 갖는지에 대해 설명했습니다. "나는 세상에 빛이니 나를 따르는 자는 어두움에 다니지 아니하고 생명의 빛을 얻으리라"(요 8:12). 예수님을 구주로 믿음으로 우리는 이제 세상을 밝힐 수 있습니다. 우리는 "너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라" (마 5:16)는 명령을 받았습니다. 이 말은 우리가 항상 꾸며서 기쁨을 나타내라는 뜻이 아닙니다. 우리 중 많은 사람들이 밝은 성격을 갖고 있지 않습니다. 그러나 성령의 능력 안에서 우리는 바울이 "세상에서 그들 가운데 빛들로 나타낸다" (빌 2:15)고 일컬었던 그리스도인들처럼 될 수 있습니다. 아시시의 성자 프란시스가 쓴 것처럼 "주여, 나를 평화의 도구로 써 주소서. 미움이 있는 곳에 사랑을 심게 하시고… 어둠이 있는 곳에는 빛이 되게 하소서." 달이 태양의 빛을 반사하듯, 구주를 믿고 따르는 우리들은 세상의 빛이신 예수님을 반사할 수 있습니다.

A world in darkness needs the light of the gospel.

Matthew 5:14-16

[14] "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
[15] Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
[16] In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

어둠에 덮인 세상은 복음의 빛을 필요로 한다.

[16] 이같이 너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라
