Dry Eyes		메마른 눈물
[ Matthew 5:1 - 5:10 ] - hymn 516 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. - Matthew 5:4 I read a news report about a woman who hadn't shed a tear in 18 years. The reason for her dry eyes was physical, not emotional. Doctors said she was a victim of a rare condition called Sjogren's syndrome. For some unknown reason, antibodies attacked her tear glands as if they were undesirable foreign organisms. This reminds me of a spiritual problem among the people of God-people who should and could cry, but don't. They need to learn what Jesus meant when He said, "Blessed are those who mourn" (Matthew 5:4). Sometimes we think tears are a sign of weakness. But if this were the case, why did Jesus cry? (Luke 19:41). Why did James tell Christians to weep over their sins? (James 4:9). True, people differ in the way they express their emotions. But literal tears aren't the real issue. What's important is the attitude of the heart. The real issue is how deeply we sense the implications of our sins. Are we filled with Godly sorrow? Are we pained by the tragic consequences our sin creates in our relationships with others? I'm not talking about putting on a phony show of sorrow, but do we feel some of the same sorrow God feels about evil? Are we willing to turn from it? Or do we have dry eyes? - Mart De Haan II		[ 마태복음 5:1 - 5:10 ] - 찬송가 516 장 "애통하는 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 위로를 받을 것임이요" - 마태복음 5:4 18년 동안 한번도 눈물을 흘리지 않았던 한 여인에 관한 기사를 읽었습니다. 눈물이 메마른 이유는 신체적인 이유에서였으며 정서적인 이유는 아니었습니다. 의사들은 그 여인이 쇼그렌 증후군이라는 희귀한 병에 걸렸다고 하였습니다. 알 수 없는 이유로 인해 항체들이 그녀의 눈물샘을 몸에 침입한 이물질로 인식하여 공격을 했기 때문입니다. 이러한 사실은 울 수 있는 능력도 있고 또 울어야 할 일이 있는 데도 울지 않는 하나님 자녀들의 영적 문제점에 대해 생각하게 합니다. 이러한 사람들은 예수님께서 “애통하는 자는 복이 있나니” (마 5:4)라고 하신 말씀의 뜻을 깨달아야 합니다. 우리는 눈물이 연약함의 표시라고 생각할 때가 많습니다. 만약에 그것이 사실이라면 예수님은 왜 우셨을까요? (눅 19:41). 그리고 야고보 사도는 믿는 사람들에게 왜 자기의 죄에 대해 울라고 하였을까요? (약 4:9). 사람들마다 자신의 감정을 표현하는 방법이 다르다는 것은 사실입니다. 그러나 눈물 그 자체가 중요한 것이 아닙니다. 중요한 것은 마음의 자세입니다. 진정한 문제는 우리의 죄가 지니는 의미에 대하여 우리가 얼마나 절실히 깨닫느냐 하는 것입니다. 우리는 경건한 슬픔으로 채워져 있습니까? 우리의 죄 때문에 다른 사람들과의 관계에서 빚어지는 슬픈 결과에 대해 가슴 아파합니까? 나는 겉으로 슬픈 척하는 것을 말하는 것이 아닙니다. 하나님께서 악에 대해 느끼시는 슬픔과 똑같은 슬픔을 우리도 조금이나마 느끼며, 악에서 기꺼이 돌아설 수 있느냐 하는 것입니다. 아니면 눈물이 말라 있는 것은 아닐까요?

The Lord wants us to mourn our sin,
To grieve what brings Him pain;
And if the sorrow changes us,
Our tears won't be in vain. - Sper

Indifference to evil is a great evil.

Matthew 5:1-10

[1] Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,
[2] and he began to teach them, saying:
[3] "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
[4] Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
[5] Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
[6] Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
[7] Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
[8] Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
[9] Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
[10] Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

주님은 우리가 자기의 죄를 애통해 하며
주님을 아프게 해드리는 것을 뉘우치기 원하십니다.
그러나 애통해 함으로 우리가 변화된다면
우리의 눈물은 결코 헛되지 않습니다.

악에 대해 무관심한 것이 큰 악이다.

[3] 심령이 가난한 자는 복이 있나니 천국이 저희 것임이요

[6] 의에 주리고 목마른 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 배부를 것임이요
[7] 긍휼히 여기는 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 긍휼히 여김을 받을 것임이요
[8] 마음이 청결한 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 하나님을 볼 것임이요
[9] 화평케 하는 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 하나님의 아들이라 일컬음을 받을 것임이요
[10] 의를 위하여 핍박을 받은 자는 복이 있나니 천국이 저희 것임이라
