Lipstick On A Bulldog		불독을 화장시키기
[ Matthew 4:17 - 4:25 ] - hymn 334 Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. - Matthew 4:17 "In a lot of organizations, change is like putting lipstick on a bulldog. There's a tremendous amount of effort involved, and most times all you get is some cosmetics-and an angry bulldog." So writes Dave Murphy of the San Francisco Chronicle. Real change, whether in a business, church, family, or in ourselves, can be difficult and elusive. While we long for a deep and lasting transformation, we often get only a temporary cover-up that solves nothing and satisfies no one. The word repent is used in the Bible to describe the beginning of genuine spiritual change. Language scholar W. E. Vine says that to repent means "to change one's mind or purpose." In the New Testament it always involves a change for the better as a person turns away from sin while turning toward God. Jesus began His public ministry with the call, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matthew 4:17). When we feel sorry for doing wrong or for getting caught, it may be nothing more than a spiritual cosmetic. But true repentance occurs deep in our hearts and results in a visible difference in our actions. When we turn to Christ and yield ourselves to Him, He produces real change-not just a cover-up. - David McCasland		[ 마태복음 4:17 - 4:25 ] - 찬송가 334 장 "회개하라 천국이 가까왔느니라" - 마태복음 4:17 샌프란시스코 크로니클 신문의 데이브 머피는 이런 글을 썼습니다. “대부분의 조직에서는 변화를 한다는 것이 불독 한 마리의 입에다 화장을 시키는 것과도 같다. 변화를 가져오기 위해서는 엄청난 노력이 필요한데 대부분의 경우에 얻는 것이라고는 약간 달라진 겉 모습에다 잔뜩 화가 난 불독으로 그치고 만다.” 회사나 교회나 가정이나 우리 개인들에게 있어서 진정한 변화란 어려운 것이고 마음대로 되지 않습니다. 우리는 근본적이고 지속적인 변화를 원하지만 실제로는 겉모양만 조금 달라졌을 뿐 문제는 해결하지 못하고 아무도 만족시키지 못하고 마는 경우가 많습니다. 성경에서 사용되는 회개라는 단어는 진정한 영적 변화의 시작을 의미합니다. 언어학자 바인은 회개란 “생각 또는 목적의 변화”를 뜻한다고 합니다. 신약성경에서의 회개에는 사람이 죄에서 돌이켜 하나님께로 향함으로 그 사람의 형편이 더 좋아진다는 의미를 가집니다. 예수님도 “회개하라. 천국이 가까왔느니라” (마 4:17)고 전파하시는 것으로 공생애를 시작하셨습니다. 우리가 잘못을 하거나 잘못이 드러난 후 후회하는 것은 영적으로는 화장을 하는 것에 지나지 않습니다. 진정한 회개란 마음속 깊은 곳에서 일어나는 것이고 행동이 눈에 띄게 달라집니다. 우리가 그리스도에게로 돌아와 그에게 자신을 맡기면 그분은 단지 겉 모습이 아닌 진정한 변화를 일으키십니다.

Don't hide your sin and cover up,
Pretending there is nothing wrong;
Instead, confess it and repent,
And God will fill your heart with song. - Sper

Repentance is not just words but actions.

Matthew 4:17-25

[17] From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
[18] As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
[19] "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
[20] At once they left their nets and followed him.
[21] Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,
[22] and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
[23] Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
[24] News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.
[25] Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.

아무 잘못이 없는 것처럼
죄를 감추거나 덮지 말라.
오히려 죄를 고백하고 회개하라.
그러면 하나님은 우리 마음을 기쁜 노래로 채워주신다.

회개는 말로만 하는 것이 아니라 행동으로 하는 것이다.

마태복음 4:17-25

[17] 이 때부터 예수께서 비로소 전파하여 가라사대 회개하라 천국이 가까웠느니라 하시더라
[18] 갈릴리 해변에 다니시다가 두 형제 곧 베드로라 하는 시몬과 그 형제 안드레가 바다에 그물 던지는 것을 보시니 저희는 어부라
[19] 말씀하시되 나를 따라 오너라 내가 너희로 사람을 낚는 어부가 되게 하리라 하시니
[20] 저희가 곧 그물을 버려 두고 예수를 좇으니라
[21] 거기서 더 가시다가 다른 두 형제 곧 세베대의 아들 야고보와 그 형제 요한이 그 부친 세베대와 한가지로 배에서 그물 깁는 것을 보시고 부르시니
[22] 저희가 곧 배와 부친을 버려두고 예수를 좇으니라
[23] 예수께서 온 갈릴리에 두루 다니사 저희 회당에서 가르치시며 천국 복음을 전파하시며 백성 중에 모든 병과 모든 약한 것을 고치시니
[24] 그의 소문이 온 수리아에 퍼진지라 사람들이 모든 앓는 자 곧 각색 병과 고통에 걸린 자, 귀신 들린 자, 간질하는 자, 중풍병자들을 데려오니 저희를 고치시더라
[25] 갈릴리와 데가볼리와 예루살렘과 유대와 요단 강 건너 편에서 허다한 무리가 좇으니라
