[ Matthew 9:35 - 10:1 ] - hymn 372 Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice. - Psalm 55:17 While driving through a small town in Pennsylvania, I saw these words on a church sign: Pray for a good harvest, but keep on hoeing. This made me think of Jesus' words in Matthew 9. Before telling His disciples to pray that laborers would be sent out, He reminded them that a good harvest was waiting but that the laborers were few (vv.37-38). We sometimes forget that God may want us to be part of the answer to our own prayers. We expect Him to do everything, and then we sit back and do nothing. We ask Him to bless the work of our church but offer excuses when asked to serve. We plead for loved ones to be saved, yet never speak a word of testimony to them. We earnestly intercede for people with serious financial needs, but we won't dig deep into our own pockets even though we have the means to help them. We ask the Lord to comfort and encourage the shut-ins and lonely, but we never go out of our way to pay them a visit or send them a note of encouragement. Yes, God wants us to bring our requests to Him, but many times He wants us to add feet to our prayers. Working often goes hand-in-hand with praying. - Richard De Haan		[ 마태복음 9:35 - 10:1 ] - 찬송가 372 장 "저녁과 아침과 정오에 내가 근심하여 탄식하리니 여호와께서 내 소리를 들으시리로다" - 시편 55:17 펜실베니아의 한 조그만 마을을 차를 타고 지나면서 한 교회 간판에 이런 글이 적혀 있는 것을 보았습니다. "좋은 추수를 위해 기도하십시오. 그리고 열심히 김을 매십시오." 이 문구를 보며 마태복음 9장의 예수님 말씀이 생각났습니다. 예수님은 제자들에게 추수할 일꾼들을 보내달라고 기도하라 하시기 전에 추수할 것은 많지만 일꾼이 적다는 것을 먼저 상기시키셨습니다 (37-38절). 우리는 때때로 우리가 드린 기도에 대한 응답의 한 부분을 우리 자신이 감당할 것을 하나님이 원하신다는 것을 잊습니다. 하나님이 모든 것을 다 해주시리라 생각하고 우리는 아무 것도 하지 않고 그저 앉아 있습니다. 우리는 하나님께 교회의 사역을 축복해 달라고 기도하면서도 정작 교회에서 섬기라 할 때에는 이를 피합니다. 사랑하는 사람들의 구원을 위해 기도하면서도 그들에게 복음을 전하지는 않습니다. 아주 심각한 재정적 어려움에 처한 이들을 위해 열심히 중보기도를 하지만 도울 형편이 되어도 자기의 주머니를 열어 도우려 하지 않습니다. 소외되고 외로운 이들을 격려하며 위로해 달라고 주님께 기도하면서도 일부러 시간 내어 찾아가거나 격려의 편지를 보내는 일은 하지를 않습니다. 그렇습니다. 하나님은 우리가 하나님께 기도로 간구하기를 원하시지만, 더 나아가 그 기도에 행동이 따르기를 원하실 때가 많습니다. 행동과 기도는 대개 함께 가는 것입니다.

Pray as if everything depends on God; work as if everything depends on you.

Matthew 9:35-10:1

[35] Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.
[36] When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
[37] Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
[38] Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

[1] He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

하나님에 대한 당신의 믿음은
사랑과 봉사로 나타납니다.
믿음은 사랑으로 섬길 수 있는 길을 찾으며
당신의 기도에 행동이 따르게 합니다.

모든 것이 하나님께 달려 있는 것처럼 기도하고
모든 것이 당신에게 달려 있는 것처럼 일을 하라.

마태복음 9:35-10:1

[35] 예수께서 모든 성과 촌에 두루 다니사 저희 회당에서 가르치시며 천국 복음을 전파하시며 모든 병과 모든 약한 것을 고치시니라
[36] 무리를 보시고 민망히 여기시니 이는 저희가 목자 없는 양과 같이 고생하며 유리함이라
[37] 이에 제자들에게 이르시되 추수할 것은 많되 일꾼은 적으니
[38] 그러므로 추수하는 주인에게 청하여 추수할 일꾼들을 보내어 주소서 하라 하시니라

[1] 예수께서 그 열두 제자를 부르사 더러운 귀신을 쫓아내며 모든 병과 모든 약한 것을 고치는 권능을 주시니라
