Don't Give Up		포기하지 말라
[ Matthew 26:69 - 26:75 ] - hymn 423 Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep." - John 21:17 On the last day of spring training in 1979, baseball player Steve Kemp of the Detroit Tigers was hit in the head with a pitched ball and taken to the hospital. But on opening day of the regular season he stepped up to the plate with confidence. Taking fastballs from a veteran pitcher, he smacked a single. The next time at bat he hit a home run. During a post game interview he said, "After I was hit, I just told myself, 'I can't let it bother me.' If you let it bother you, you're not going to be any good to yourself or your team." The apostle Peter responded to a bitter experience in much the same way. He had been hit hard by a "pitch" from the enemy. He had promised earlier that he would follow Christ, even if it meant death (Matthew 26:33-35). But just a little while later, facing unexpected pressure, he denied his Lord (vv.69-75). That devastating blow could have caused him to quit. But Peter didn't give up-because Jesus didn't give up on him. After the Lord encouraged him (John 21:15-19), Peter boldly proclaimed the gospel, and many people trusted in Christ. Have you been hit by failure? The Lord wants to restore you and make you useful again. - Mart De Haan II		[ 마태복음 26:69 - 26:75 ] - 찬송가 423 장 "예수께서 가라사대 내 양을 먹이라" - 요한복음 21:17 1979년 봄철 훈련의 마지막 날 디트로이트 타이거즈의 야구선수 스티브 켐프는 투수가 던진 공에 머리를 맞아 병원에 실려 갔습니다. 그러나 정규 시즌 개막전에 그는 자신 있게 타석에 나섰습니다. 그는 노련한 투수의 빠른 공을 안타로 쳐냈습니다. 다음 타석에서는 홈런을 쳤습니다. 경기 후에 가진 인터뷰에서 그는 이렇게 말했습니다. “공에 맞은 다음 나는 나 자신에게 ‘그 일을 마음에 두어서는 안 된다’ 고 다짐했습니다. 그런 일로 두려워하면 자신과 팀에게 아무런 도움도 되지 않지요” 베드로사도도 아주 쓰라린 경험 앞에서 이와 같은 방법으로 대처했습니다. 그도 적이 던진 “투구”에 심하게 맞았습니다. 그는 전에 죽는 한이 있더라도 그리스도를 따르겠다고 약속을 한 바가 있습니다 (마 26:33-35). 그러나 얼마 후 갑자기 추궁을 당하게 되자 베드로는 주님을 부인하고 말았습니다 (69-75절). 이런 커다란 충격을 받은 베드로는 모든 것을 그만 둘 수도 있었습니다. 그러나 포기하지 않았습니다. 예수님께서 그를 포기하지 않으셨기 때문입니다. 주님의 격려에 힘입어 (요 21:15-19) 베드로는 그 후 담대하게 복음을 선포하여 많은 사람들이 그리스도를 믿게 하였습니다. 당신도 실패의 충격을 당해 보았습니까? 주님은 당신을 회복시켜 다시 일꾼으로 만들기를 원하십니다.

Matthew 26:69-75

[69] Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. "You also were with Jesus of Galilee," she said.
[70] But he denied it before them all. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said.
[71] Then he went out to the gateway, where another girl saw him and said to the people there, "This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth."
[72] He denied it again, with an oath: "I don't know the man!"
[73] After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, "Surely you are one of them, for your accent gives you away."
[74] Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, "I don't know the man!" Immediately a rooster crowed.
[75] Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.

우리는 시련을 견디지 못하여도
구주는 우리를 버리지 않습니다.
그분은 우리를 사랑으로 잡아당겨
그 안에서 편한 쉼을 얻게 하십니다.

하나님은 처참한 상황도 승리로 바꾸실 수 있다.

마태복음 26:69-75

[69] 베드로가 바깥 뜰에 앉았더니 한 비자가 나아와 가로되 너도 갈릴리 사람 예수와 함께 있었도다 하거늘
[70] 베드로가 모든 사람 앞에서 부인하여 가로되 나는 네 말하는 것이 무엇인지 알지 못하겠노라 하며
[71] 앞문까지 나아가니 다른 비자가 저를 보고 거기 있는 사람들에게 말하되 이 사람은 나사렛 예수와 함께 있었도다 하매
[72] 베드로가 맹세하고 또 부인하여 가로되 내가 그 사람을 알지 못하노라 하더라
[73] 조금 후에 곁에 섰던 사람들이 나아와 베드로에게 이르되 너도 진실로 그 당이라 네 말소리가 너를 표명한다 하거늘
[74] 저가 저주하며 맹세하여 가로되 내가 그 사람을 알지 못하노라 하니 닭이 곧 울더라
[75] 이에 베드로가 예수의 말씀에 닭 울기 전에 네가 세번 나를 부인하리라 하심이 생각나서 밖에 나가서 심히 통곡하니라
