Too Nice		좋게 넘어가기
[ Matthew 23:1 - 23:15 ] - hymn 515 Why do you think evil in your hearts? - Matthew 9:4 Sometimes we tend to be too nice. When people are doing wrong, we are afraid to confront their behavior, and we choose just to be nice. When a friend is slipping into an illicit relationship or a relative is becoming an alcoholic, we ignore the situations and do not confront them. When an unsaved friend is trusting in good works for eternal life, we remain silent about Christ and His death on the cross. But believers should not compromise obedience to God's Word just to be nice. A US Supreme Court Justice said that "in the effort to be civil in conduct, many who know better actually dilute [their] firmly held views to avoid appearing judgmental. They curb their tongues, not only in form but also in substance.... This is not civility, it is cowardice. Or well-intentioned self-deception at best." In Matthew 9, Jesus wasn't concerned about being nice. He looked the Jewish teachers of the law in the eye and said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?" (v.4). Nor was He worried about being civil when He called the Pharisees "whitewashed tombs ... full of dead men's bones" (23:27). He courageously confronted them and exposed their sin. Sometimes being nice isn't nice. - DCE		[ 마태복음 23:1 - 23:15 ] - 찬송가 515 장 "즉…너희가 어찌하여 마음에 악한 생각을 하느냐" - 마태복음 9:4 가끔 우리는 그냥 좋게 넘어가려는 경향을 보입니다. 사람들이 잘못을 하는 경우에도 그러한 행동에 맞서기가 두려워 그냥 좋게 대해 주려 합니다. 친구가 불륜의 관계에 빠져들어가거나 친척이 알코올 중독이 되어가도 우리는 그 상황을 중시하지 않고 그들과 마주치려 하지 않습니다. 구원 받지 못한 한 친구가 선한 일을 하면 영생을 얻는다는 그릇된 믿음을 가지고 있어도 우리는 그리스도와 그분의 십자가 위에서의 죽음에 관해 말을 해주지 않습니다. 그러나 믿는 사람들은 남에게 단지 좋게 보이려다 하나님 말씀에 불순종해서는 안됩니다. 미국의 한 대법원 판사는 다음과 같이 말했습니다. "사람들 중에는 남들보다 더 잘 알면서도 예의를 차리려다 보면 비판적이라는 인상을 주지 않으려고 사실상 자신의 확고한 견해를 희석 시킵니다. 사람들은 표현방법 뿐 아니라 내용적으로도 말을 아낍니다… 이것은 공손한 것이 아니라 비겁한 것입니다. 뜻은 좋았다 하여도 결국은 자기 기만입니다." 마태복음 9장에 보면 예수님은 상냥하게 보이지 않을 것을 걱정하지 않으셨습니다. 예수님은 유대의 율법 선생들의 눈을 정면으로 쳐다보시며 "너희는 어찌하여 마음에 악한 생각을 하느냐"(4절)고 말씀하셨습니다. 또한 예수님은 예의에 얽매이지 않으시고 바리새인들을 향해 "회칠한 무덤 같으니… 죽은 사람의 뼈와 모든 더러운 것이 가득하도다(23:27)"라고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 용기 있게 정면으로 바라보시며 그들의 죄를 드러내셨습니다. 언제나 "좋은게 좋은 것"은 아닙니다.

Being too nice can be a disguise for cowardice.

Matthew 23:1-15

[1] Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
[2] "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.
[3] So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
[4] They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
[5] "Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;
[6] they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;
[7] they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them 'Rabbi.'
[8] "But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers.
[9] And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
[10] Nor are you to be called 'teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.
[11] The greatest among you will be your servant.
[12] For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
[13] "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.
[14] "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Therefore you will be punished more severely.
[15] "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

너를 미워하는 사람도 있고 너를 사랑하는 사람도 있을 것이다.
아첨하는 사람도 있고 모욕하는 사람도 있을 것이다.
사람들을 보지말고 위를 바라보라.
하나님을 의지하고 옳은 일을 행하라.

지나치게 좋게 대하는 것은 비겁함을 감추기 위한 것일 수 있다.

마태복음 23:1-15

[1] 이에 예수께서 무리와 제자들에게 말씀하여 가라사대
[2] 서기관들과 바리새인들이 모세의 자리에 앉았으니
[3] 그러므로 무엇이든지 저희의 말하는 바는 행하고 지키되 저희의 하는 행위는 본받지 말라 저희는 말만 하고 행치 아니하며
[4] 또 무거운 짐을 묶어 사람의 어깨에 지우되 자기는 이것을 한 손가락으로도 움직이려 하지 아니하며
[5] 저희 모든 행위를 사람에게 보이고자 하여 하나니 곧 그 차는 경문을 넓게 하며 옷술을 크게 하고
[6] 잔치의 상석과 회당의 상좌와
[7] 시장에서 문안 받는 것과 사람에게 랍비라 칭함을 받는 것을 좋아하느니라
[8] 그러나 너희는 랍비라 칭함을 받지 말라 너희 선생은 하나이요 너희는 다 형제니라
[9] 땅에 있는 자를 아비라 하지 말라 너희 아버지는 하나이시니 곧 하늘에 계신 자시니라
[10] 또한 지도자라 칭함을 받지 말라 너희 지도자는 하나이니 곧 그리스도니라
[11] 너희 중에 큰 자는 너희를 섬기는 자가 되어야 하리라
[12] 누구든지 자기를 높이는 자는 낮아지고 누구든지 자기를 낮추는 자는 높아지리라
[13] 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희는 천국 문을 사람들 앞에서 닫고 너희도 들어가지 않고 들어가려 하는 자도 들어가지 못하게 하는도다
[14] (없음)
[15] 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희는 교인 하나를 얻기 위하여 바다와 육지를 두루 다니다가 생기면 너희보다 배나 더 지옥 자식이 되게 하는도다
