Selfish Ambition		이기적 야망
[ Matthew 11:25 - 11:30 ] - hymn 508 Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. - Jeremiah 45:5 Pop artist Andy Warhol once said that in the television age everyone would have 15 minutes of fame. Yes, fame may come to us, but we should not seek it. Selfish ambition is a terrible trait that can manifest itself in an ugly passion for the "best seats," and for personal recognition. It can cause us to dominate social situations and insist on telling our stories instead of listening to others. We want to be noticed, to be prominent, to be in the limelight rather than on the sidelines. God's way, however, is just the opposite. It means learning to be content when others are elevated above ourselves. We learn to rejoice when someone else is preferred over us, and we give credit to others without insisting on getting it all for ourselves. God's way enables us to accept humiliation when treated unfairly and to view the experience as a "disguised grace"-an opportunity to learn true humility. We begin to learn God's way from Jesus. He was "gentle and lowly in heart" (Matthew 11:29) and didn't try to protect His own dignity or position (Philippians 2:5-8). By relying on Him again and again for His help, we become more and more like Him. Only then can we find rest from the posturing and restless striving of selfish ambition. - DHR		[ 마태복음 11:25 - 11:30 ] - 찬송가 508 장 (no)'ë„¤ê°€ ë„ˆë¥¼ ìœ„í•˜ì—¬ ëŒ€ì‚¬ë¥¼ ê²½ì˜í•˜ëŠëƒ ê·¸ê²ƒì„ ê²½ì˜í•˜ì§€ ë§ë¼' - ì˜ˆë ˆë¯¸ì•¼ 45:5 대중화가 앤디 워홀은 텔레비전 시대에 사는 사람들은 누구든지 15분간은 유명해질 수 있다고 말한 적이 있습니다. 그렇습니다. 우리도 유명해질 수는 있습니다. 그러나 그것을 추구해서는 안됩니다. 이기적인 야망이란 사람을 '귀빈석'에 앉고 싶어하게 하고 개인적으로 남의 인정을 받으려는 아름답지 못한 욕심을 드러내게 하는 나쁜 성품입니다. 이런 야망을 가지면 여러 사람이 관련된 일을 독단적으로 처리하게 되고 다른 사람들의 이야기를 듣지 않고 자신의 이야기만 하게 됩니다. 그렇게 되면 남이 알아주기를 원하며, 남의 눈에 띄기를 원하고, 옆으로 비켜 서있기 보다는 조명을 받기를 원하게 됩니다. 그러나 하나님의 길은 이와 정반대입니다. 하나님의 길은 남이 우리보다 높아졌을 때에도 자신에 대하여 만족할 줄 알게 합니다. 우리 보다 남이 잘될 때에도 기뻐하고, 모든 공적을 우리 자신보다는 다른 사람에게 가도록 합니다. 하나님의 길은 우리로 하여금 부당하게 취급 받는 수모도 받아들이게 하고, 그 경험 자체를 참된 겸손을 배우는 '숨겨진 은혜'의 기회로 여기게 만듭니다. 우리는 하나님의 방법을 예수님을 통해 배우기 시작합니다. 예수님은 '마음이 온유하고 겸손하셔서'(마 11:29) 자신의 존엄함이나 지위를 지키려고 애쓰시지 않았습니다 (빌 2:5-8). 언제나 예수님께 의지하고 그의 도우심을 구할 때 우리도 점점 예수님을 닮아가게 됩니다. 그때에 우리는 비로소 이기적 야망을 달성하기 위해 애쓰며 불안해 하는 데서 벗어나 마음의 평화를 얻게 됩니다.

There's no limit to the good you can do if you don't care who gets the credit.

Matthew 11:25-30

[25] At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
[26] Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.
[27] "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
[28] "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
[29] Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
[30] For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

참 위대함은 세상적 명예를 얻으려
노력하는 자에게 오지 않습니다.
그것은 예수님 이름으로
봉사하는 사람들에게 옵니다.

명성 얻는 것에 상관치 않는다면
좋은 일을 하는데에는 한계가 없다.

마태복음 11:25-30

[25] 그 때에 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 천지의 주재이신 아버지여 이것을 지혜롭고 슬기 있는 자들에게는 숨기시고 어린 아이들에게는 나타내심을 감사하나이다

[27] 내 아버지께서 모든 것을 내게 주셨으니 아버지 외에는 아들을 아는 자가 없고 아들과 또 아들의 소원대로 계시를 받는 자 외에는 아버지를 아는 자가 없느니라
[28] 수고하고 무거운 짐진 자들아 다 내게로 오라 내가 너희를 쉬게 하리라
[29] 나는 마음이 온유하고 겸손하니 나의 멍에를 메고 내게 배우라 그러면 너희 마음이 쉼을 얻으리니
[30] 이는 내 멍에는 쉽고 내 짐은 가벼움이라 하시니라
