Loosening Our Grip		욕심을 버립시다
[ Matthew 6:19 - 6:24 ] - hymn 348 Since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be? - 2 Peter 3:11 An American tourist traveled to Poland to visit with a respected religious teacher who was known for his wisdom. The visitor noticed that the man's room had nothing but a table, a chair, and some books. Puzzled by such austerity, he asked, "Where is your furniture?" The teacher answered, "My furniture? Where is your furniture, my friend?" The American protested, "Furniture? But I am only a tourist passing through." "So am I," said the man. And so are all of us. Because it's true that we're just passing through this world, we need to learn to loosen our grip on our earthly possessions. This declaration from Jesus should help us: "One's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses" (Luke 12:15). Rather than acquiring and holding tightly to earthly things, we should be obeying this directive given by our Savior: "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven" (Matthew 6:19-20). '내 가구라니요? 친구여, 당신의 가구는 어디에 있습니까?' 그 미국인은 '가구요? 저는 잠시 지나가는 여행객인데요'라고 이상하다는 듯 말했습니다. 그러자 '나도 마찬가지입니다'라고 선생님이 대답했다고 합니다. 그렇습니다. 우리는 모두 여행객입니다. 우리는 다만 이 세상을 잠시 스쳐 지나가는 것이기 때문에 세상의 소유를 너무 단단히 붙잡지 않는 것을 배워야 합니다. '사람의 생명이 그 소유의 넉넉한 데 있지 아니하니라' (눅 12:15)고 선포하신 예수님의 말씀이 우리에게 도움이 됩니다. 우리는 세상의 것들을 소유하고 그것에 집착하지 말고 우리 구주의 다음과 같은 말씀에 순종해야 합니다. '너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아두지 말라. 거기는 좀과 동록이 해하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫고 도적질하느니라. 오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아두라' (마 6:19-20). 당신이 자동차, 집, 옷, 은행예금 같은 것에 대해 지나치게 염려하고 있다면 다가올 세계에 보물을 쌓아둔다는 뜻이 무엇인지 알게 해달라고 하나님께 구하십시오.

Hold tightly what is eternal; hold lightly what is temporal.

Matthew 6:19-24

[19] "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
[20] But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
[21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
[22] "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
[23] But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
[24] "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

[19] 너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말라 거기는 좀과 동록이 해하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫고 도적질하느니라
[20] 오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아 두라 저기는 좀이나 동록이 해하지 못하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫지도 못하고 도적질도 못하느니라
[21] 네 보물 있는 그 곳에는 네 마음도 있느니라
[22] 눈은 몸의 등불이니 그러므로 네 눈이 성하면 온 몸이 밝을 것이요
[23] 눈이 나쁘면 온 몸이 어두울 것이니 그러므로 네게 있는 빛이 어두우면 그 어두움이 얼마나 하겠느뇨
[24] 한 사람이 두 주인을 섬기지 못할 것이니 혹 이를 미워하며 저를 사랑하거나 혹 이를 중히 여기며 저를 경히 여김이라 너희가 하나님과 재물을 겸하여 섬기지 못하느니라
