DEPENDENT ON GOD’S STRENGTH		하나님 능력에 힘입어
[ 2 Corinthians 11:23 - 11:29 ] - hymn 15 My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. [ 2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 ] Tungsten is something of a paradox. It has the highest ten-sile strength of any pure element, making it extremely difficult to pull apart. But the Mead Metals website notes,“In terms of impact strength, tungsten is weak—it’s a brittle metal known to shatter on impact.” It’s fascinating that tungsten, the strongest natural metal, is also so weak and brittle. Human beings display a similar characteristic. Though capable of great strength both physically and mentally, we’re easily crushed under the weight of this fallen, broken world. Paul experienced this personally. In 2 Corinthians 11, he described experiences that overwhelmed him (VV. 23-29). But God encour-aged him: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Paul resolved, “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” (2 CORINTHIANS 12:9). Earlier in 2 Corinthians, Paul had written, “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed” (4:8). There’s hope, even though the strongest child of God knows all too well that this world is simply too much for us. We’re happily dependent on the strength of His grace if we are to endure. May we, like Paul, embrace our weaknesses so God’s power can carry us through. 23 Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again.

24 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one.

25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea,

26 I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers.

27 I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.

28 Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches.

29 Who is weak, and I do not feel weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not inwardly burn?

사랑하는 하나님 아버지, 주님의 능력 안에 거하며 삶에 감당하기 힘든 순간들을 헤쳐나가게 하소서.

23 그들이 그리스도의 일꾼이냐 정신 없는 말을 하거니와 나는 더욱 그러하도다 내가 수고를 넘치도록 하고 옥에 갇히기도 더 많이 하고 매도 수없이 맞고 여러 번 죽을 뻔하였으니

24 유대인들에게 사십에서 하나 감한 매를 다섯 번 맞았으며

25 세 번 태장으로 맞고 한 번 돌로 맞고 세 번 파선하고 일 주야를 깊은 바다에서 지냈으며

26 여러 번 여행하면서 강의 위험과 강도의 위험과 동족의 위험과 이방인의 위험과 시내의 위험과 광야의 위험과 바다의 위험과 거짓 형제 중의 위험을 당하고

27 또 수고하며 애쓰고 여러 번 자지 못하고 주리며 목마르고 여러 번 굶고 춥고 헐벗었노라

28 이 외의 일은 고사하고 아직도 날마다 내 속에 눌리는 일이 있으니 곧 모든 교회를 위하여 염려하는 것이라

29 누가 약하면 내가 약하지 아니하며 누가 실족하게 되면 내가 애타지 아니하더냐
