| A PLACE FOR YOU |

| If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. -John 14:3 |
| A couple who brought their elderly aunt to live with them were concerned that she would not feel at home. So they transformed a room in their house into an exact replica of her bedroom at the home she left behind. When their aunt arrived, her furniture, wall hangings, and other favorite things felt like a special “Welcome home!” to her. In John 13:36-14:4, we read that at the Last Supper Jesus spoke to His disciples and tried to prepare them for His death. When Simon Peter asked, “Where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward”(13:36). Jesus was still speaking directly to Peter (and also meant it for all of His followers) when He said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions [rooms]; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also”(14:2-3). Heaven is a family gathering of believers from every tribe and nation, but it is also our Father’s house-and in that house He is preparing a room just for you. When you arrive in heaven and Jesus opens the door, you’ll know you’re home. - David McCasland |

| 당신을 위한 거처 |

| 가서 너희를 위하여 거처를 예비하면 내가 다시 와서 너희를 내게로 영접하여 나 있는 곳에 너희도 있게 하리라 - 요한복음 14:3 |
| 나이 많은 숙모를 모시고 살게 된 어느 부부는 숙모가 불편해 할까봐 염려되었습니다. 그래서 방을 하나 개조하여 이전에 숙모가 살던 집의 침실과 똑같이 꾸며놓았습니다. 숙모가 도착하던 날, 가구며 벽에 걸려있는 것들, 그리고 평소 그녀가 좋아하던 것들이 모두 그녀가 집으로 돌아온 것을 특별히 환영하는 것 같았습니다. 요한복음 13:36-14:4의 마지막 만찬에서 우리는 예수님이 제자들과 이야기하면서 자신의 죽음에 대비해 그들을 준비시키시려는 것을 봅니다. 시몬 베드로가 “어디로 가시나이까?” 하고 물었을 때, 예수님은 “내가 가는 곳에 네가 지금은 따라올 수 없으나 후에는 따라오리라”(13:36)라고 말씀하십니다. 예수님은 “내 아버지 집에 거할 곳이 많도다 그렇지 않으면 너희에게 일렀으리라 내가 너희를 위하여 거처를 예비하러 가노니 가서 너희를 위하여 거처를 예비하면 내가 다시 와서 너희를 내게로 영접하여 나 있는 곳에 너희도 있게 하리라”(14:2-3)라고 말씀하실 때에도 베드로에게 직접하셨지만 다른 모든 제자들을 향한 말씀이기도 합니다. 천국은 모든 종족과 모든 나라로부터 온 성도들이 가족처럼 모이는 곳입니다. 하지만, 그곳은 또한 하나님 아버지의 집이며, 하나님께서 그 집 안에서 당신만을 위한 방을 준비하고 계십니다. 당신이 천국에 도착하여 예수님이 문을 열어주실 때, 당신은 집에 왔다는 것을 알게 될 것입니다. |
