GOD’S RAINBOW ANSWER		하나님의 무지개 응답
[ Genesis 9:12 - 9:16 ] - hymn 300 Whenever the rainbow appears . . . I will . . . remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures. [ GENESIS 9:16 ] Owen was on holiday abroad when he received a disturbing message from a colleague: “The boss is looking to replace you.” Deeply upset, he prayed one morning at dawn and asked God, “Where are You?” Then he went to the window to open the curtains—and spotted a huge, beautiful rainbow sus-pended above the lake outside. Immediately a comforting warmth gushed over him. “It was as if God was simply telling me, ‘It’s okay; I’m here,’ ” he recounted later. In Genesis 9, God promised not to destroy the earth through a flood again. He promised, “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth” (V. 16). This covenant was everlasting and unconditional. It depended totally on God’s protection and provision, not on humanity’s performance. And it was just the first of many prom-ises God would make to His people. Jesus, too, said, “Surely I am with you always” (MATTHEW 28:20). God doesn’t promise that we won’t suffer. But He does prom-ise His ever-present comfort and personal presence. We may not get “rainbow answers,” but we have His assurance that no mat-ter what happens to us in life, He’s always there for us, and we can draw on His strength, comfort, and presence. LESLIE KOH		[ 창세기 9:12 - 9:16 ] - 찬송가 300 장 무지개가... 있으리니... 나 하나님과 모든 육체를 가진 땅의 모든 생물 사이 의 영원한 언약을 기억하리라 [창세기 9:16] 오웬은 해외 휴가 중 동료로부터 “상사가 너를 해고하려는 것 같아.”라는 좋지 않은 메시지를 받았습니다. 너무 화가 난 그는 어느 새벽에 기도 중, “하나님, 어디 계세요?”라고 물었습니다. 그는 기도 후 창문으로 가서 커튼을 열었는데, 밖의 호수 위로 크고 아름다운 무지개가 떠 있는 것을 보았습니다. 곧바로 그의 마음속에 따뜻한 평안이 밀려왔습니다. 그는 나중에 이렇게 말했습니다 “하나님이 그냥 내게 이렇게 말씀하시는 것 같았어요. ‘괜찮아. 내가 여기 있다.’” 하나님은 창세기 9장에서 다시는 홍수로 땅을 멸하시지 않겠다고 하시며 이렇게 약속하셨습니다. “무지개가 구름 사이에 있으리니 내가 보고 나 하나님과 모든 육체를 가진 땅의 모든 생물 사이의 영원한 언약을 기억하리라”(16절). 영원하고 무조건적인 이 언약은 인간의 행위가 아니라 전적으로 하나님의 보호하심과 공급하심에 달려 있었습니다. 그리고 이것은 하나님이 그분의 백성에게 하시게 될 수많은 약속 중 첫번째 것이었습니다. 예수님도 이렇게 말씀 하셨습니다. “볼지어다 내가... 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라”(마태복음 28:20). 하나님은 우리에게 고통이 없을 것이라 약속하지 않으십니다. 하지만 항상 옆에서 위로하고 친히 우리와 함께 하시겠다고 약속하십니다. 우리는 “무지개 응답”을 받지 못해도 우리 삶에 무슨 일이 일어나든지 하나님이 우리와 항상 함께하신다는 확신을 가지고 하나님의 능력과 위로와 임재를 의지할 수 있습니다.

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:

13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,

15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.

16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

12 하나님이 이르시되 내가 나와 너희와 및 너희와 함께 하는 모든 생물 사이에 대대로 영원히 세우는 언약의 증거는 이것이니라

13 내가 내 무지개를 구름 속에 두었나니 이것이 나와 세상 사이의 언약의 증거니라

14 내가 구름으로 땅을 덮을 때에 무지개가 구름 속에 나타나면

15 내가 나와 너희와 및 육체를 가진 모든 생물 사이의 내 언약을 기억하리니 다시는 물이 모든 육체를 멸하는 홍수가 되지 아니할지라

16 무지개가 구름 사이에 있으리니 내가 보고 나 하나님과 모든 육체를 가진 땅의 모든 생물 사이의 영원한 언약을 기억하리라
