SERVING GOD OUT OF LOVE		사랑으로 하나님 섬기기
[ Matthew 6:1 - 6:21 ] - hymn 218 Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven. [ MATTHEW 6:20 ] My dad was a hard worker on our farm and in the factory, but he wasn’t a handyman. Sometimes when our tractor or furnace or plumbing failed, a neighbor or friend would fix it. Dad offered to pay even though he knew he couldn’t afford as much as they deserved. But they wouldn’t accept anything; they just loved to help. “Thanks,” he’d say, “until you’re better paid.” I’m still not sure what he meant. Maybe he or someone else did something for them later. Believers in Jesus who serve others because of their love for Him will one day be rewarded. Perhaps that’s a form of “until you’re better paid.” Jesus told His followers to “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (MATTHEW 6:20). Doing good to others may be one way to store up some of those “treasures.” He said we shouldn’t announce it “with trumpets”; if we do, that’s all the reward we’ll get (V. 2). We can be confident He sees us. The book of Hebrews reinforces this idea: “God . . . will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them” (6:10). We don’t serve for rewards but rather because Jesus loves us, and in response we express our love and praise for Him. What a blessing it will be to hear God say, “Well done, good and faith-ful servant!” (MATTHEW 25:21, 23). ANNE CETAS		[ 마태복음 6:1 - 6:21 ] - 찬송가 218 장 오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아 두라 [마태복음 6:20] 아버지는 우리 농장에서나 공장에서나 열심히 일하는 분이었지만 손재주가 좋은 편은 아니었습니다. 그래서 트랙터나 보일러나 배관에 문제가 생기면 이웃 사람이나 친구가 와서 고쳐주곤 했습니다. 형편상 충분한 수리비를 지불할 수 없었던 아버지였지만 그래도 도와준 이들에게 사례하려 했습니다. 하지만 그들은 받으려 하지 않았습니다. 그들은 그저 돕는 것이 좋아서 도왔던 것입니다. 아버지는 늘 이렇게 말했습니다. “고맙소. 나중에 제대로 받을거요.” 나는 아버지의 이 말이 무슨 뜻이었는지 아직도 확실히 모르겠습니다. 아버지나 아니면 다른 누군가가 나중에 그들에게 어떤 보답을 했는지 모릅니다. 예수님을 사랑하기에 또한 이웃을 섬기는 성도들에게는 나중에 받을 보상이 있습니다. 아마도 그것이 “나중에 제대로 받을” 그것일 겁니다. 예수님은 제자들에게 “오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아 두라”(마태복음 6:20) 고 하셨습니다. 다른 사람들에게 선을 행하는 것은 하늘에 “보물”을 쌓는 방법 중 하나입니다. 예수님은 그것을 “나팔 소리”를 내며 자랑하지 말라고 하시며, 그렇게 하면 그것으로 우리가 받을 보상을 다 받은 것이라 하셨습니다 (2절). 하나님은 확실히 우리를 다 보고 계십니다. 히브리서는 이 사실을 강조 합니다. “하나님은 불의하지 아니하사 너희 행위와 그의 이름을 위하여 나타낸 사랑으로 이미 성도를 섬긴 것과 이제도 섬기고 있는 것을 잊어버리지 아니하시느니라”(6:10). 우리는 보상을 바라고 섬기는 것이 아니라, 예수님께서 우리를 사랑하시기 때문에 섬깁니다. 그리고 그 사랑에 응답하여 주님에 대한 사랑과 찬미를 표현합니다. 언젠가 하나님께서 “잘 하였도다 착하고 충성된 종아”(마태복음 25:21, 23)라고 하시는 말씀을 듣게 된다면 얼마나 큰 축복일까요!

Dear Jesus, I long to help others the way You want me to.
Please help me point them to You and lead me to live for Your pleasure.

1 "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 'So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
19 'Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

다른 사람들과 나누라고 하나님께서 당신에게 주신 은사는 무엇입니까?

사랑하는 예수님, 예수님이 원하는 방법으로 다른 이들을 돕기 원합니다.
그들을 주께 인도하도록 도와주시고 주님을 기쁘시게 하는 삶을 살도록 저를 이끌어주소서.

1 사람에게 보이려고 그들 앞에서 너희 의를 행하지 않도록 주의하라 그리하지 아니하면 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 상을 받지 못하느니라
2 그러므로 구제할 때에 외식하는 자가 사람에게서 영광을 받으려고 회당과 거리에서 하는 것 같이 너희 앞에 나팔을 불지 말라 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 그들은 자기 상을 이미 받았느니라
3 너는 구제할 때에 오른손이 하는 것을 왼손이 모르게 하여
4 네 구제함을 은밀하게 하라 은밀한 중에 보시는 너의 아버지께서 갚으시리라
19 너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말라 거기는 좀과 동록이 해하며 도둑이 구멍을 뚫고 도둑질하느니라
20 오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아 두라 거기는 좀이나 동록이 해하지 못하며 도둑이 구멍을 뚫지도 못하고 도둑질도 못하느니라
21 네 보물 있는 그 곳에는 네 마음도 있느니라
