[ John 13:31 - 13:38 ] - hymn 315 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. [ JOHN 13:34 ] Stradivarius violins, cellos, and guitars are among the most treasured musical instruments in the world. Crafted during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the pieces are rare and invaluable. Something so precious deserves the utmost care. So when a Stradivarius cello—worth more than $20 mil-lion—fell off a table during a photo shoot, it was truly shocking! Just as a Stradivarius must be handled carefully, so must our relationships. We’re to love others because Christ demonstrated His love toward us. In John 13:34, Jesus gave His disciples a command that requires careful attention: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Why did Christ call it a new command? It was new because it was rooted in the way Jesus loved people. This new command to love wasn’t careless or casual but inten-tional, precious, and sacrificial. Loving this way would lead to discipleship, self-denial, and possibly even death for the disciples. This care for one another would be how they survived in a dif-ficult and hostile world after Christ’s departure. And Jesus told them, “Everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (V. 35). Let’s carefully and sacrificially love others—reflecting Jesus’ precious and priceless love. MARVIN WILLIAMS		[ 요한복음 13:31 - 13:38 ] - 찬송가 315 장 새 계명을 너희에게 주노니 서로 사랑하라 내가 너희를 사랑한 것 같이 너희도 서로 사랑하라 [요한복음 13:34 ] 스트라디바리우스 바이올린과 첼로와 기타는 세상에서 가장 귀하게 여겨지는 악기들입니다. 17세기와 18세기에 제작된 이 악기들은 매우 희귀하고 값을 매길 수가 없습니다. 그런 귀중한 물건들은 매우 잘 다루어야만 합니다. 그래서 2천만 달러가 넘는 스트라디바리우스 첼로가 사진 촬영을 하다 테이블에서 떨어졌을 때 그 충격은 너무나 컸습니다! 스트라디바리우스를 조심스럽게 다루어야 하는 것처럼 우리의 관계도 마찬가지입니다. 그리스도가 우리를 향한 사랑을 보여주신대로 우리도 서로 사랑해야 합니다. 요한복음 13장 34절에서 예수님은 제자들에게 마음에 새겨야 할 명령을 주셨습니다. “새 계명을 너희에게 주노니 서로 사랑하라 내가 너희를 사랑한 것 같이 너희도 서로 사랑하라.” 그리스도는 왜 이를 새로운 계명이라고 하셨을까요? 그것은 예수님이 사람들을 사랑하신 그 방식을 따르는 것이기 때문입니다. 이 새로운 사랑의 명령은 함부로 대하거나 대충 하는 것이 아니라, 마음이 담긴 것이고, 귀중한 것이고, 희생이 따르는 사랑이었습니다. 예수님의 제자들에게 이런 사랑이란 제자의 삶과 자기 부인과 죽음에까지 이어지는 삶이었습니다. 서로 돌보는 것만이 예수님이 떠나신 후 그들을 위협하는 어려운 세상에서 제자들이 살아갈 방법이었습니다. 그리고 예수님은 제자들에게 “너희가 서로 사랑하면 이로써 모든 사람이 너희가 내 제자인줄 알리라”(35절) 고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님의 귀하고 값을 매길 수 없는 사랑을 본받아, 우리도 서로 마음을 쓰며 자신을 내어주는 사랑을 하십시다.

31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him.

32 If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once.

33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.”

37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”

38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!

31 ○그가 나간 후에 예수께서 이르시되 지금 인자가 영광을 받았고 하나님도 인자로 말미암아 영광을 받으셨도다

32 만일 하나님이 그로 말미암아 영광을 받으셨으면 하나님도 자기로 말미암아 그에게 영광을 주시리니 곧 주시리라

33 작은 자들아 내가 아직 잠시 너희와 함께 있겠노라 너희가 나를 찾을 것이나 일찍이 내가 유대인들에게 너희는 내가 가는 곳에 올 수 없다고 말한 것과 같이 지금 너희에게도 이르노라

34 새 계명을 너희에게 주노니 서로 사랑하라 내가 너희를 사랑한 것 같이 너희도 서로 사랑하라

35 너희가 서로 사랑하면 이로써 모든 사람이 너희가 내 제자인 줄 알리라

36 ○시몬 베드로가 이르되 주여 어디로 가시나이까 예수께서 대답하시되 내가 가는 곳에 네가 지금은 따라올 수 없으나 후에는 따라오리라

37 베드로가 이르되 주여 내가 지금은 어찌하여 따라갈 수 없나이까 주를 위하여 내 목숨을 버리겠나이다

38 예수께서 대답하시되 네가 나를 위하여 네 목숨을 버리겠느냐 내가 진실로 진실로 네게 이르노니 닭 울기 전에 네가 세 번 나를 부인하리라
