ABUSING GOD’S NAME		하나님의 이름을 망령되이 일컬음
[ Exodus 20:1 - 20:17 ] - hymn 378 You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. [ EXODUS 20:7 ] The vintage photograph from World War II, taken outside a town’s Nazi headquarters, carries a warning for all of us. In the photo, a comfortably dressed woman is crossing the street. A man in a suit walks down the sidewalk, while another has stopped to read a bulletin board on the corner of the building. All seem oblivious to the large banner hanging above the head-quarters’ front door, half as long as the building. It reads, “By resisting the Jew, I fight for the work of the Lord.” This kind of treachery is what God had in mind when He commanded, “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name” (EXODUS 20:7). This command covers misusing His name when we curse or when we carelessly shout God’s name when we stub a toe or smash a finger. It also includes perversion—using God’s name as cover for evil. We shouldn’t assume we’re doing God’s work simply because others say we are. We must prayerfully check our work with what God reveals in the Bible. How can we know we’re serving Him? Psalm 119:9 says, “By living according to your word.” The God who commands us to “always give [ourselves] fully to the work of the Lord” has told us what that work is in His holy book (1 CORINTHIANS 15:58). Let’s listen to Him. MIKE WITTMER		[ 출애굽기 20:1 - 20:17 ] - 찬송가 378 장 너는 네 하나님 여호와의 이름을 망령되게 부르지 말라 여호와는 그의 이름을 망령되게 부르는 자를 죄 없다 하지 아니하리라 [출애굽기 20:7] 한 도시의 나치 사령부 밖에서 찍은 제2차 세계대전의 오래된 사진 한 장이 우리 모두에게 경종을 울립니다. 사진 속에는 편한 옷차림의 한 여성이 길을 건너고 있고, 정장 차림의 한 남자가 보도를 걸어가고 있으며, 다른 한 남자는 멈춰 서서 건물 모퉁이에 붙어있는 게시판을 보고 있습니다. 이들 모두는 사령부 정문 위에 걸려있는 건물 전체 길이의 절반 크기의 커다란 현수막을 못 본 것 같습니다. 현수막에는 “유대인에게 저항하는 것이 주님의 일을 위해 싸우는 것이다.”라고 씌어 있습니다. 하나님께서 “너는 네 하나님의 이름을 망령되게 부르지 말라 여호와는 그의 이름을 망령되게 부르는 자를 죄 없다 하지 아니하리라”(출애굽기 20:7)고 명령하실 때 이와 같은 악행을 염두에 두셨습니다. 이 명령에는 우리가 저주의 욕을 할 때나, 또는 발가락을 치이거나 손가락을 찧을 때 무심코 하나님의 이름을 외치는 것까지 포함합니다. 그리고 하나님의 이름을 사용하여 악을 덮으려고 왜곡하는 것도 포함됩니다. 다른 사람들이 그렇게 말한다고 해서 우리가 하나님의 일을 하는 것으로 착각을 하면 안됩니다. 우리는 성경에서 하나님이 보여주시는 대로 행하고 있는지 기도하며 살펴보아야 합니다. 우리가 하나님을 섬기고 있는지 어떻게 알 수 있을까요? 시편 119편 9절은 “주의 말씀만 지킬 따름이니이다”라고 말합니다. 우리에게 “항상 주의 일에 더욱 힘쓰는 자들이 되라”고 명령하시는 하나님은 성경말씀 안에서 그 일이 무엇인지를 알려주셨습니다(고린도전서 15:58). 그분의 음성에 귀를 기울입시다.

What work have you done in the name of God?
How do you know it was what He wanted?

Dear Father, please help me be wise, loving, and careful with what I do in Your name and help me guard Your name at all times.

1 And God spoke all these words:

2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

4 You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

7 You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

8 Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

14 You shall not commit adultery.

15 You shall not steal.

16 You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

17 You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

하나님의 이름으로 했던 일이 있습니까?
그것이 주님이 원하시는 일이었는지 어떻게 알 수 있습니까?

사랑하는 하나님 아버지, 주님의 이름으로 행하는 모든 일을 지혜와 사랑과 신중함으로 행하고, 항상 주님의 이름을 잘 보호하게 도와주소서.

1 하나님이 이 모든 말씀으로 말씀하여 이르시되

2 나는 너를 애굽 땅, 종 되었던 집에서 인도하여 낸 네 하나님 여호와니라

3 ○너는 나 외에는 다른 신들을 네게 두지 말라

4 ○너를 위하여 새긴 우상을 만들지 말고 또 위로 하늘에 있는 것이나 아래로 땅에 있는 것이나 땅 아래 물 속에 있는 것의 어떤 형상도 만들지 말며

7 ○너는 네 하나님 여호와의 이름을 망령되게 부르지 말라 여호와는 그의 이름을 망령되게 부르는 자를 죄 없다 하지 아니하리라

8 ○안식일을 기억하여 거룩하게 지키라

14 ○간음하지 말라

15 ○도둑질하지 말라

16 ○네 이웃에 대하여 거짓 증거하지 말라

17 ○네 이웃의 집을 탐내지 말라 네 이웃의 아내나 그의 남종이나 그의 여종이나 그의 소나 그의 나귀나 무릇 네 이웃의 소유를 탐내지 말라
