22At that time Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army said to Abraham, “God is with you in all that you do. 23 Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my descendants or with my posterity, but as I have dealt kindly with you, so you will deal with me and with the land where you have sojourned.” 24 And Abraham said, “I will swear.” 25 When Abraham reproved Abimelech about a well of water that Abimelech's servants had seized, 26 Abimelech said, “I do not know who has done this thing; you did not tell me, and I have not heard of it until today.” 27 So Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two men made a covenant. 28 Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock apart. 29 And Abimelech said to Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs that you have set apart?” 30 He said, “These seven ewe lambs you will take from my hand, that this may be a witness for me that I dug this well.” 31 Therefore that place was called Beersheba, because there both of them swore an oath. 32 So they made a covenant at Beersheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army rose up and returned to the land of the Philistines. 33 Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God. 34 And Abraham sojourned many days in the land of the Philistines.
22그 무렵에 아비멜렉과 그의 군사령관 비골이 아브라함에게 말하였다. “하나님은, 당신이 무슨 일을 하든지, 당신을 도우십니다. 23 이제 여기 하나님 앞에서, 당신이 나와 나의 아이들과 나의 자손을 속이지 않겠다고 맹세하십시오. 당신이 나그네살이를 하는 우리 땅에서, 내가 당신에게 한 것처럼, 당신도 나와 이 땅 사람들에게 친절을 베풀어 주시기 바랍니다.” 24 아브라함이 말하였다. “맹세합니다.” 25 이렇게 말하고 나서, 아브라함은, 아비멜렉의 종들이 우물을 빼앗은 것을 아비멜렉에게 항의하였다. 26 그러나 아비멜렉은 이렇게 말하였다. “누가 그런 일을 저질렀는지, 나는 모릅니다. 당신도 그런 말을 여태까지 나에게 하지 않았습니다. 나는 그 일을 겨우 오늘에 와서야 들었습니다.” 27 아브라함이 양과 소를 끌고 와서, 아비멜렉에게 주고, 두 사람이 서로 언약을 세웠다. 28 아브라함이 양 떼에서 새끼 암양 일곱 마리를 따로 떼어 놓으니, 29 아비멜렉이 아브라함에게 물었다. “새끼 암양 일곱 마리를 따로 떼어 놓은 까닭이 무엇입니까?” 30 아브라함이 대답하였다. “내가 이 우물을 파 놓은 증거로, 이 새끼 암양 일곱 마리를 드리려고 합니다.” 31 이 두 사람이 여기에서 이렇게 맹세를 하였으므로, 그 곳을 브엘세바라고 한다. 32 아브라함과 아비멜렉이 브엘세바에서 언약을 세운 다음에, 아비멜렉과 그의 군사령관 비골은 블레셋 사람의 땅으로 돌아갔다. 33 아브라함은 브엘세바에 에셀 나무를 심고, 거기에서, 영생하시는 주 하나님의 이름을 부르며 예배를 드렸다. 34 아브라함은 오랫동안 블레셋 족속의 땅에 머물러 있었다.
