1These are the priests and the Levites who came up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,
2 Amariah, Malluch, Hattush,
3 Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,
4 Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah,
5 Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,
6 Shemaiah, Joiarib, Jedaiah,
7 Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brothers in the days of Jeshua.
8 And the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who with his brothers was in charge of the songs of thanksgiving.
9 And Bakbukiah and Unni and their brothers stood opposite them in the service.
10 And Jeshua was the father of Joiakim, Joiakim the father of Eliashib, Eliashib the father of Joiada,
11 Joiada the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan the father of Jaddua.
12 And in the days of Joiakim were priests, heads of fathers' houses: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;
13 of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;
14 of Malluchi, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;
15 of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;
16 of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;
17 of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin, of Moadiah, Piltai;
18 of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;
19 of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;
20 of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;
21 of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel.
22 In the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, the Levites were recorded as heads of fathers' houses; so too were the priests in the reign of Darius the Persian.
23 As for the sons of Levi, their heads of fathers' houses were written in the Book of the Chronicles until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.
24 And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers who stood opposite them, to praise and to give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, watch by watch.
25 Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were gatekeepers standing guard at the storehouses of the gates.
26 These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor and of Ezra, the priest and scribe.

1스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 예수아를 따라서 함께 돌아온 제사장과 레위 사람들은 다음과 같다. 제사장은 스라야와 예레미야와 에스라와
2 아마랴와 말룩과 핫두스와
3 스가냐와 르훔과 므레못과
4 잇도와 긴느도이와 아비야와
5 미야민과 마아댜와 빌가와
6 스마야와 요야립과 여다야와
7 살루와 아목과 힐기야와 여다야이다. 이들은 예수아 때의 제사장 가문의 우두머리와 그 동료들이다.
8 레위 사람은 예수아와 빈누이와 갓미엘과 세레뱌와 유다와 맛다니야이고 그 가운데서 맛다니야는 그의 동료들과 함께 찬양대를 맡았다.
9 그들의 동료 박부갸와 운노는 예배를 드릴 때에 그들과 마주 보고 섰다.
10 예수아는 요야김을 낳고, 요야김은 엘리아십을 낳고, 엘리아십은 요야다를 낳고,
11 요야다는 요나단을 낳고, 요나단은 얏두아를 낳았다.
12 요야김 때의 제사장 가문의 우두머리들은 다음과 같다. 스라야 가문에서는 므라야요, 예레미야 가문에서는 하나냐요,
13 에스라 가문에서는 므술람이요, 아마랴 가문에서는 여호하난이요,
14 말루기 가문에서는 요나단이요, 스바냐 가문에서는 요셉이요,
15 하림 가문에서는 아드나요, 므라욧 가문에서는 헬개요,
16 잇도 가문에서는 스가랴요, 긴느돈 가문에서는 므술람이요,
17 아비야 가문에서는 시그리요, 미냐민과 모아댜 가문에서는 빌대요,
18 빌가 가문에서는 삼무아요, 스마야 가문에서는 여호나단이요,
19 요야립 가문에서는 맛드내요, 여다야 가문에서는 웃시오,
20 살래 가문에서는 갈래요, 아목 가문에서는 에벨이요,
21 힐기야 가문에서는 하사뱌요, 여다야 가문에서는 느다넬이다.
22 엘리아십과 요야다와 요하난과 얏두아 때의 레위 사람 가운데서, 가문별 우두머리들의 이름과 제사장들의 이름은, 다리우스가 페르시아를 다스릴 때의 왕실 일지에 기록되어 있다.
23 레위의 자손 가운데 엘리아십의 아들인 요하난 때까지의 각 가문의 우두머리의 이름도 왕실 일지에 기록되어 있다.
24 레위 사람의 우두머리는 하사뱌와 세레뱌와 갓미엘의 아들 예수아이다. 예배를 드릴 때에, 그들은, 하나님의 사람 다윗 왕이 지시한 대로, 동료 레위 사람들과 함께 둘로 나뉘어 서로 마주 보고 서서 화답하면서, 하나님께 찬양과 감사를 드렸다.
25 맛다니야와 박부갸와 오바댜와 므술람과 달몬과 악굽은 성전 문지기이다. 이들은 성전으로 들어가는 각 문들에 딸린 창고를 지켰다.
26 이 사람들은 모두, 요사닥의 손자이자 예수아의 아들인 요야김과, 총독 느헤미야와, 학자인 에스라 제사장 시대에 활동한 사람들이다.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
The high priests, priests, and Levites were listed, starting from the first generation of exiles to those in charge of the service of the dedication of the wall. The high priests were divided into three groups: Jeshua, who returned with Zerubbabel; Joiakim, who returned with Ezra afterward; and Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, who served during the time of Nehemiah. The names of the Levites and priests were also recorded. Though they lived in different times, they were all dedicated to establishing the worship of God in Jerusalem (vv. 1-26).
포로 귀환 1세대부터 성벽 봉헌에 이르기까지 예루살렘의 예배를 책임졌던 대제사장, 제사장, 레위인의 명단이 소개됩니다. 대제사장은 스룹바벨과 함께 돌아온 1세대의 예수아, 에스라와 귀환한 2세대의 요야김, 그리고 느헤미야 시대의 엘리아십, 요야다, 요나단, 얏두아로 구분됩니다. 그 외에도 레위인들과 제사장들의 이름이 함께 기록되어 있습니다. 이들은 시대는 달랐지만 한결같이 예루살렘의 예배를 세우는 데 헌신한 이들이었습니다(1-26절).

What lesson is God teaching me?
Vv. 1-26 God’s work is not completed by the efforts of a single generation. Rebuilding Jerusalem’s temple and walls was a collective mission accomplished through several generations. The Bible shows how they cooperated as one—regardless of the time in which they lived. Today, the disconnect between generations is deepening; we desperately need unity between generations. Is our church working together with both the previous and next generations?
하나님의 일은 한 세대의 노력만으로 끝나지 않습니다. 성전과 성벽을 재건하고 예루살렘을 회복하는 일은 세대를 넘어선 공동의 사명이었습니다. 성경은 그들이 살았던 시대와 관계없이 모두를 ‘협력자’로 기억합니다. 세대 간 단절이 심화되는 오늘, 우리에게도 세대 간의 연합이 절실히 필요합니다. 우리 교회는 이전 세대와 다음 세대와 협력하고 있습니까?

Vv. 8-9, 22-25 Not only is the work directly related to temple service important, but the work that is done behind the scenes is equally valuable. When each person is faithful to their role, the community is strengthened and built up. Comparing roles or devaluing the work of others makes it difficult for the community to remain united.
예배를 위해 직접 섬기는 일뿐 아니라 눈에 띄지 않는 뒷일도 똑같이 귀하다는 것을 알 수 있습니다. 각자가 자기 순번과 역할에 충실할 때, 공동체는 조화롭게 세워집니다. 서로의 직분을 비교하거나 일의 가치를 평가 절하해서는 공동체가 하나 되기 어렵습니다.

Dear God, help me to faithfully fulfil the mission you have entrusted to me. Through unity, order, and cooperation, may our church accomplish good things for your kingdom.
