39 But you have a custom that I should release one man for you at the Passover. So do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” 40 They cried out again, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber. 19 :1Then Pilate took Jesus and flogged him. 2 And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. 3 They came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands. 4 Pilate went out again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no guilt in him.” 5 So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold the man!” 6 When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no guilt in him.” 7 The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has made himself the Son of God.” 8 When Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid. 9 He entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. 10 So Pilate said to him, “You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?” 11 Jesus answered him, “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. Therefore he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin.” 12 From then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.” 13 So when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Stone Pavement, and in Aramaic Gabbatha. 14 Now it was the day of Preparation of the Passover. It was about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, “Behold your King!” 15 They cried out, “Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” 16 So he delivered him over to them to be crucified.
39유월절에는 내가 여러분에게 죄수 한 사람을 놓아주는 관례가 있소. 그러니 유대 사람들의 왕을 놓아주는 것이 어떻겠소?” 40 그들은 다시 큰 소리로 “그 사람이 아니오. 바라바를 놓아주시오” 하고 외쳤다. 바라바는 강도였다. 19 :1그 때에 빌라도는 예수를 데려다가 채찍으로 쳤다. 2 병정들은 가시나무로 왕관을 엮어서 예수의 머리에 씌우고, 자색 옷을 입힌 뒤에, 3 예수 앞으로 나와서 “유대인의 왕 만세!” 하고 소리치고, 손바닥으로 얼굴을 때렸다. 4 그 때에 빌라도가 다시 바깥으로 나와서, 유대 사람들에게 말하였다. “보시오, 내가 그 사람을 당신들 앞에 데려 오겠소. 나는 그에게서 아무 죄도 찾지 못했소. 나는 당신들이 그것을 알아주기를 바라오.” 5 예수가 가시관을 쓰시고, 자색 옷을 입으신 채로 나오시니, 빌라도가 그들에게 “보시오, 이 사람이오” 하고 말하였다. 6 대제사장들과 경비병들이 예수를 보고 외쳤다. “십자가에 못 박으시오. 십자가에 못 박으시오.” 그러자 빌라도는 그들에게 “당신들이 이 사람을 데려다가 십자가에 못 박으시오. 나는 이 사람에게서 아무 죄도 찾지 못했소” 하고 말하였다. 7 유대 사람들이 그에게 대답하였다. “우리에게는 율법이 있는데 그 율법을 따르면 그는 마땅히 죽어야 합니다. 그가 자기를 가리켜서 하나님의 아들이라고 하였기 때문입니다.” 8 빌라도는 이 말을 듣고, 더욱 두려워서 9 다시 관저 안으로 들어가서 예수께 물었다. “당신은 어디서 왔소?” 예수께서는 그에게 아무 대답도 하지 않으셨다. 10 그래서 빌라도가 예수께 말하였다. “나에게 말을 하지 않을 작정이오? 나에게는 당신을 놓아줄 권한도 있고, 십자가에 처형할 권한도 있다는 것을 모르시오?” 11 예수께서 대답하셨다. “위에서 주지 않으셨더라면, 당신에게는 나를 어찌할 아무런 권한도 없을 것이오. 그러므로 나를 당신에게 넘겨준 사람의 죄는 더 크다 할 것이오.” 12 이 말을 듣고서, 빌라도는 예수를 놓아주려고 힘썼다. 그러나 유대 사람들은 “이 사람을 놓아주면, 총독님은 황제 폐하의 충신이 아닙니다. 자기를 가리켜서 왕이라고 하는 사람은, 누구나 황제 폐하를 반역하는 자입니다” 하고 외쳤다. 13 빌라도는 이 말을 듣고, 예수를 데리고 나와서, 리토스트론이라고 부르는 재판석에 앉았다. (리토스트론은 히브리 말로 가바다인데, ‘돌을 박은 자리’라는 뜻이다.) 14 그 날은 유월절 준비일이고, 때는 낮 열두 시쯤이었다. 빌라도가 유대 사람들에게 말하였다. “보시오, 당신들의 왕이오.” 15 그들이 외쳤다. “없애 버리시오! 없애 버리시오! 그를 십자가에 못박으시오!” 빌라도가 그들에게 말하였다. “당신들의 왕을 십자가에 못박으란 말이오?” 대제사장들이 대답하였다. “우리에게는 황제 폐하 밖에는 왕이 없습니다.” 16 이리하여 이제 빌라도는 예수를 십자가에 처형하라고 그들에게 넘겨주었다. 그들은 예수를 넘겨받았다.
