Summing up


[ Isaiah 1:21 - 1:31 ] (Hymn274)

21How the faithful city has become a whore, she who was full of justice! Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.
22 Your silver has become dross, your best wine mixed with water.
23 Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not bring justice to the fatherless, and the widow's cause does not come to them.
24 Therefore the Lord declares, the LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: “Ah, I will get relief from my enemies and avenge myself on my foes.
25 I will turn my hand against you and will smelt away your dross as with lye and remove all your alloy.
26 And I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.”
27 Zion shall be redeemed by justice, and those in her who repent, by righteousness.
28 But rebels and sinners shall be broken together, and those who forsake the LORD shall be consumed.
29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks that you desired; and you shall blush for the gardens that you have chosen.
30 For you shall be like an oak whose leaf withers, and like a garden without water.
31 And the strong shall become tinder, and his work a spark, and both of them shall burn together, with none to quench them.

21그 신실하던 성읍이 어찌하여 창녀가 되었습니까? 그 안에 정의가 충만하고, 공의가 가득하더니, 이제는 살인자들이 판을 칩니다.
22 네가 만든 은은 불순물의 찌꺼기뿐이고, 네가 만든 가장 좋은 포도주에는 물이 섞여 있구나.
23 너의 지도자들은 주님께 반역하는 자들이요, 도둑의 짝이다. 모두들 뇌물이나 좋아하고, 보수나 계산하면서 쫓아다니고, 고아의 송사를 변호하여 주지 않고, 과부의 하소연쯤은 귓전으로 흘리는구나.
24 그러므로 주 곧 만군의 주, 이스라엘의 전능하신 분께서 말씀하신다. “내가 나의 대적들에게 나의 분노를 쏟겠다. 내가 나의 원수들에게 보복하여 한을 풀겠다.
25 이제 다시 내가 너를 때려서라도 잿물로 찌꺼기를 깨끗이 씻어 내듯 너를 씻고, 너에게서 모든 불순물을 없애겠다.
26 옛날처럼 내가 사사들을 너에게 다시 세우고, 처음에 한 것처럼 슬기로운 지도자들을 너에게 보내 주겠다. 그런 다음에야 너를 ‘의의 성읍’, ‘신실한 성읍’이라고 부르겠다.”
27 시온은 정의로 구속함을 받고, 회개한 백성은 공의로 구속함을 받을 것이다.
28 그러나 거역하는 자들과 죄인들은 모두 함께 패망하고, 주님을 버리는 자들은 모두 멸망을 당할 것이다.
29 너희가 상수리나무 아래에서 우상 숭배를 즐겼으니, 수치를 당할 것이며, 너희가 동산에서 이방 신들을 즐겨 섬겼으므로 창피를 당할 것이다.
30 기어이 너희는 잎이 시든 상수리나무처럼 될 것이며, 물이 없는 동산과 같이 메마를 것이다.
31 강한 자가 삼오라기와 같이 되고, 그가 한 일은 불티와 같이 될 것이다. 이 둘이 함께 불타도 꺼 줄 사람 하나 없을 것이다.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
Judah used to be faithful to God, but they betrayed him, forgot justice and righteousness, and became filled with unrighteousness. Its leaders, blinded by their greed for money, accepted bribes and neglected caring for the weak, causing the nation to grow corrupt. God took them as his enemies and unleashed his anger on them, but the purpose of his anger was to restore Judah into a just and faithful city. God would purify Judah and appoint upright leaders. Those who pursued justice would be saved, while those who rejected it would be destroyed, and those who worshipped idols would also suffer judgement.
유다는 하나님께 신실한 공동체였으나 배신하여, 정의와 공의가 사라지고 불의가 가득해졌습니다. 특히 지도자들이 돈에 눈멀어 뇌물을 받고 약자를 돌보지 않으면서 나라가 타락했습니다. 하나님은 그들을 원수로 여기며 진노하시지만, 진노의 목적은 유다를 다시 정의롭고 신실한 성읍으로 회복하는 데 있습니다. 하나님은 유다를 정결하게 하시고 올바른 지도자를 세우실 것입니다. 정의를 따르는 자는 구원을 얻고 거부하는 자는 멸망하며, 우상숭배 역시 심판을 받게 됩니다.

Who is God?
Vv. 25-27 God does not forsake His people, even when they are defiled. Rather, He disciplines and cleanses them—like washing with lye—so that they may be restored to righteousness and faithfulness. He may even remove the church’s prosperity and wealth to make her pure and upright.
더러워진 자기 백성을 버리지 않으십니다. 그 대신 때려서라도, 잿물로 씻어서라도 정의롭고 신실하게 고치실 것입니다. 하나님은 교회의 번영과 부유함을 없애서라도 바르고 정결하게 만드실 것입니다.

What lesson is God teaching me?
Vv. 21-23 Zion used to be called a “faithful city”, but it had become “a whore”. When the leaders of a community grow corrupt, the rest of the community follows suit, and when a nation is ruled by wicked politicians, all the people suffer. Let’s plead for the nation to be ruled by humble, righteous, and upright administrators and the church to be led by faithful leaders so that our society and churches may be restored into faithful communities.
시온은 예전에 ‘신실한 성읍’으로 불렸지만, 지금은 ‘창기’가 되었습니다. 종교지도자들이 타락하면 공동체가 부정해지고, 나라의 위정자가 악하면 온 백성이 고통을 겪습니다. 정의롭고 정직한 위정자들과 겸손하고 신실한 교회 지도자들을 통해 우리 사회와 교회가 신실하게 회복될 수 있도록 간구합시다.

Prayer
Lord, help our churches to faithfully serve only you and for our nation to righteously care for the weak.
