37This proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his servants. 38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?” 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. 40 You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you.” 41 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” 42 Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph's hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain about his neck. 43 And he made him ride in his second chariot. And they called out before him, “Bow the knee!” Thus he set him over all the land of Egypt. 44 Moreover, Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no one shall lift up hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.” 45 And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphenath-paneah. And he gave him in marriage Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On. So Joseph went out over the land of Egypt. 46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went through all the land of Egypt. 47 During the seven plentiful years the earth produced abundantly, 48 and he gathered up all the food of these seven years, which occurred in the land of Egypt, and put the food in the cities. He put in every city the food from the fields around it. 49 And Joseph stored up grain in great abundance, like the sand of the sea, until he ceased to measure it, for it could not be measured. 50 Before the year of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph. Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, bore them to him. 51 Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh. “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father's house.” 52 The name of the second he called Ephraim, “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.” 53 The seven years of plenty that occurred in the land of Egypt came to an end, 54 and the seven years of famine began to come, as Joseph had said. There was famine in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. 55 When all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph. What he says to you, do.” 56 So when the famine had spread over all the land, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. 57 Moreover, all the earth came to Egypt to Joseph to buy grain, because the famine was severe over all the earth.
37바로와 모든 신하들은 이 제안을 좋게 여겼다. 38 바로가 신하들에게 말하였다. “하나님의 영이 함께 하는 사람을, 이 사람 말고, 어디에서 또 찾을 수 있겠느냐?” 39 바로가 요셉에게 말하였다. “하나님이 너에게 이 모든 것을 알리셨는데, 너처럼 명철하고 슬기로운 사람이 어디에 또 있겠느냐? 40 네가 나의 집을 다스리는 책임자가 되어라. 나의 모든 백성은 너의 명령을 따를 것이다. 내가 너보다 높다는 것은, 내가 이 자리에 앉아 있다는 것뿐이다.” 41 바로가 또 요셉에게 말하였다. “내가 너를 온 이집트 땅의 총리로 세운다.” 42 그렇게 말하면서, 바로는 손가락에 끼고 있는 옥새 반지를 빼서 요셉의 손가락에 끼우고, 고운 모시옷을 입히고, 금목걸이를 목에다 걸어 주었다. 43 그런 다음에, 또 자기의 병거에 버금가는 병거에 요셉을 태우니, 사람들이 “물러나거라!” 하고 외쳤다. 이렇게 해서, 바로는 요셉을 온 이집트 땅의 총리로 세웠다. 44 바로가 요셉에게 말하였다. “나는 바로다. 이집트 온 땅에서, 총리의 허락이 없이는, 어느 누구도 손 하나 발 하나도 움직이지 못한다.” 45 바로는 요셉에게 사브낫바네아라는 이름을 지어 주고, 온의 제사장 보디베라의 딸 아스낫과 결혼을 시켰다. 요셉이 이집트 땅을 순찰하러 나섰다. 46 요셉이 이집트 왕 바로를 섬기기 시작할 때에, 그의 나이는 서른 살이었다. 요셉은 바로 앞에서 물러 나와서, 이집트 온 땅을 두루 다니면서 살폈다. 47 풍년을 이룬 일곱 해 동안에, 땅에서 생산된 것은 대단히 많았다. 48 요셉은, 이집트 땅에서 일곱 해 동안 이어간 풍년으로 생산된 모든 먹거리를 거두어들여, 여러 성읍에 저장해 두었다. 각 성읍 근처 밭에서 나는 곡식은 각각 그 성읍에 쌓아 두었다. 49 요셉이 저장한 곡식의 양은 엄청나게 많아서, 마치 바다의 모래와 같았다. 그 양이 셀 수 없을 만큼 많아져서, 기록을 중단할 수밖에 없었다. 50 요셉과 온의 제사장 보디베라의 딸 아스낫 사이에서 두 아들이 태어난 것은 흉년이 들기 전이었다. 51 요셉은 “하나님이 나의 온갖 고난과 아버지 집 생각을 다 잊어버리게 하셨다” 하면서, 맏아들의 이름을 므낫세라고 지었다. 52 둘째는 “내가 고생하던 이 땅에서, 하나님이 자손을 번성하게 해주셨다” 하면서, 그 이름을 에브라임이라고 지었다. 53 이집트 땅에서 일곱 해 동안 이어가던 풍년이 지나니, 54 요셉이 말한 대로 일곱 해 동안의 흉년이 시작되었다. 온 세상에 기근이 들지 않은 나라가 없었으나, 이집트 온 땅에는 아직도 먹거리가 있었다. 55 그러나 마침내, 이집트 온 땅의 백성이 굶주림에 빠지자, 그들은 바로에게 먹을 것을 달라고 부르짖었다. 바로는 이집트의 모든 백성에게 “요셉에게로 가서, 그가 시키는 대로 하여라” 하였다. 56 온 땅에 기근이 들었으므로, 요셉은 모든 창고를 열어서, 이집트 사람들에게 곡식을 팔았다. 이집트 땅 모든 곳에 기근이 심하게 들었다. 57 기근이 온 세상을 뒤덮고 있었으므로, 다른 나라 사람들도 요셉에게서 곡식을 사려고 이집트로 왔다.
