1By the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion. 2 On the willows there we hung up our lyres. 3 For there our captors required of us songs, and our tormentors, mirth, saying, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!” 4 How shall we sing the LORD's song in a foreign land? 5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill! 6 Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy! 7 Remember, O LORD, against the Edomites the day of Jerusalem, how they said, “Lay it bare, lay it bare, down to its foundations!” 8 O daughter of Babylon, doomed to be destroyed, blessed shall he be who repays you with what you have done to us! 9 Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!
1우리가 바빌론의 강변 곳곳에 앉아서, 시온을 생각하면서 울었다. 2 그 강변 버드나무 가지에 우리의 수금을 걸어 두었더니, 3 우리를 사로잡아 온 자들이 거기에서 우리에게 노래를 청하고, 우리를 짓밟아 끌고 온 자들이 저희들 흥을 돋우어 주기를 요구하며, 시온의 노래 한 가락을 저희들을 위해 불러 보라고 하는구나. 4 우리가 어찌 이방 땅에서 주님의 노래를 부를 수 있으랴. 5 예루살렘아, 내가 너를 잊는다면, 내 오른손아, 너는 말라비틀어져 버려라. 6 내가 너를 기억하지 않는다면, 내가 너 예루살렘을 내가 가장 기뻐하는 것보다도 더 기뻐하지 않는다면, 내 혀야, 너는 내 입천장에 붙어 버려라. 7 주님, 예루살렘이 무너지던 그 날에, 에돔 사람이 하던 말, “헐어 버려라, 헐어 버려라. 그 기초가 드러나도록 헐어 버려라” 하던 그 말을 기억하여 주십시오. 8 멸망할 바빌론 도성아, 네가 우리에게 입힌 해를 그대로 너에게 되갚는 사람에게, 복이 있을 것이다. 9 네 어린 아이들을 바위에다가 메어치는 사람에게 복이 있을 것이다.
