18Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, who draw sin as with cart ropes, 19 who say: “Let him be quick, let him speed his work that we may see it; let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near, and let it come, that we may know it!” 20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! 22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing strong drink, 23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe, and deprive the innocent of his right! 24 Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom go up like dust; for they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. 25 Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he stretched out his hand against them and struck them, and the mountains quaked; and their corpses were as refuse in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still. 26 He will raise a signal for nations far away, and whistle for them from the ends of the earth; and behold, quickly, speedily they come! 27 None is weary, none stumbles, none slumbers or sleeps, not a waistband is loose, not a sandal strap broken; 28 their arrows are sharp, all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs seem like flint, and their wheels like the whirlwind. 29 Their roaring is like a lion, like young lions they roar; they growl and seize their prey; they carry it off, and none can rescue. 30 They will growl over it on that day, like the growling of the sea. And if one looks to the land, behold, darkness and distress; and the light is darkened by its clouds.
18거짓으로 끈을 만들어 악을 잡아당기며, 수레의 줄을 당기듯이 죄를 끌어당기는 자들에게 재앙이 닥친다! 19 기껏 한다는 말이 “하나님더러 서두르시라고 하여라. 그분이 하고자 하시는 일을 빨리 하시라고 하여라. 그래야 우리가 볼 게 아니냐. 계획을 빨리 이루시라고 하여라. 이스라엘의 거룩하신 분께서 세우신 계획이 빨리 이루어져야 우리가 그것을 알 게 아니냐!” 하는구나. 20 악한 것을 선하다고 하고 선한 것을 악하다고 하는 자들, 어둠을 빛이라고 하고 빛을 어둠이라고 하며, 쓴 것을 달다고 하고 단 것을 쓰다고 하는 자들에게, 재앙이 닥친다! 21 스스로 지혜롭다 하며, 스스로 슬기롭다 하는 그들에게, 재앙이 닥친다! 22 포도주쯤은 말로 마시고, 온갖 독한 술을 섞어 마시고도 끄떡도 하지 않는 자들에게, 재앙이 닥친다! 23 그들은 뇌물을 받고 악인을 의롭다고 하며, 의인의 정당한 권리를 빼앗는구나. 24 그러므로 지푸라기가 불길에 휩싸이듯, 마른 풀이 불꽃에 타들어 가듯, 그들의 뿌리가 썩고, 꽃잎이 말라서, 티끌처럼 없어질 것이다. 그들은 만군의 주님의 율법을 버리고, 이스라엘의 거룩하신 분의 말씀을 멸시하였다. 25 그러므로 주님께서 백성에게 진노하셔서 손을 들어 그들을 치시니, 산들이 진동하고, 사람의 시체가 거리 한가운데 버려진 쓰레기와 같다. 그래도 주님께서는 진노를 풀지 않으시고, 심판을 계속하시려고 여전히 손을 들고 계신다. 26 주님께서 깃발을 올리셔서 먼 곳의 민족들을 부르시고, 휘파람으로 그들을 땅 끝에서부터 부르신다. 그들이 빠르게 달려오고 있다. 27 그들 가운데 아무도 지쳐 있거나 비틀거리는 사람이 없고, 졸거나 잠자는 사람이 없으며, 허리띠가 풀리거나 신발 끈이 끊어진 사람이 없다. 28 그들의 화살은 예리하게 날이 서 있고, 모든 활시위는 쏠 준비가 되어 있다. 달리는 말발굽은 부싯돌처럼 보이고, 병거 바퀴는 회오리바람과 같이 구른다. 29 그 군대의 함성은 암사자의 포효와 같고, 그 고함 소리는 새끼 사자의 으르렁거림과 같다. 그들이 소리치며 전리품을 움켜 가 버리나, 아무도 그것을 빼앗지 못한다. 30 바로 그 날에, 그들이 이 백성을 보고서, 바다의 성난 파도같이 함성을 지를 것이니, 사람이 그 땅을 둘러보면, 거기에는 흑암과 고난만 있고, 빛마저 구름에 가려져 어두울 것이다.
