12So the band of soldiers and their captain and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound him. 13 First they led him to Annas, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14 It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews that it would be expedient that one man should die for the people. 15 Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, 16 but Peter stood outside at the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the servant girl who kept watch at the door, and brought Peter in. 17 The servant girl at the door said to Peter, “You also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.” 18 Now the servants and officers had made a charcoal fire, because it was cold, and they were standing and warming themselves. Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself. 19 The high priest then questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching. 20 Jesus answered him, “I have spoken openly to the world. I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret. 21 Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them; they know what I said.” 22 When he had said these things, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, “Is that how you answer the high priest?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If what I said is wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said is right, why do you strike me?” 24 Annas then sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest. 25 Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You also are not one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not.” 26 One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Did I not see you in the garden with him?” 27 Peter again denied it, and at once a rooster crowed.
12로마 군대 병정들과 그 부대장과 유대 사람들의 성전 경비병들이 예수를 잡아 묶어서 13 먼저 안나스에게로 끌고 갔다. 안나스는 그 해의 대제사장인 가야바의 장인인데, 14 가야바는 ‘한 사람이 온 백성을 위하여 죽는 것이 유익하다’고 유대 사람에게 조언한 사람이다. 15 시몬 베드로와 또 다른 제자 한 사람이 예수를 따라갔다. 그 제자는 대제사장과 잘 아는 사이라서, 예수를 따라 대제사장의 집 안뜰에까지 들어갔다. 16 그러나 베드로는 대문 밖에 서 있었다. 그런데 대제사장과 잘 아는 사이인 그 다른 제자가 나와서, 문지기 하녀에게 말하고, 베드로를 데리고 들어갔다. 17 그 때에 문지기 하녀가 베드로에게 말하였다. “당신도 이 사람의 제자 가운데 한 사람이지요?” 베드로는 “아니오” 하고 대답하였다. 18 날이 추워서, 종들과 경비병들이 숯불을 피워 놓고 서서 불을 쬐고 있는데, 베드로도 그들과 함께 서서 불을 쬐고 있었다. 19 대제사장은 예수께 그의 제자들과 그의 가르침에 관하여 물었다. 20 예수께서 대답하셨다. “나는 드러내 놓고 세상에 말하였소. 나는 언제나 모든 유대 사람이 모이는 회당과 성전에서 가르쳤으며, 아무것도 숨어서 말한 것이 없소. 21 그런데 어찌하여 나에게 묻소? 내가 무슨 말을 하였는지를, 들은 사람들에게 물어 보시오. 내가 말한 것을 그들이 알고 있소.” 22 예수께서 이렇게 말씀하시니, 경비병 한 사람이 곁에 서 있다가 “대제사장에게 그게 무슨 대답이냐?” 하면서, 손바닥으로 예수를 때렸다. 23 예수께서 그 사람에게 말씀하셨다. “내가 한 말에 잘못이 있으면, 잘못되었다는 증거를 대시오. 그러나 내가 한 말이 옳다면, 어찌하여 나를 때리시오?” 24 안나스는 예수를 묶은 그대로 대제사장 가야바에게로 보냈다. 25 시몬 베드로는 서서, 불을 쬐고 있었다. 사람들이 그에게 물었다. “당신도 그의 제자 가운데 한 사람이지요?” 베드로가 부인하여 “나는 아니오!” 하고 말하였다. 26 베드로에게 귀를 잘린 사람의 친척으로서, 대제사장의 종 가운데 한 사람이 베드로에게 말하였다. “당신이 동산에서 그와 함께 있는 것을 내가 보았는데 그러시오?” 27 베드로가 다시 부인하였다. 그러자 곧 닭이 울었다.
